It The 24 hr Emercency Centre opens next Wednesday and is easy access to our neighbourhood too. On another note Its great to welcome the return of the Kotuku to the estuary end of Linwood Avenue again. We are used to grey herons but a white visitor who returns every year at end of April a real treat. 😀

Myself and any person I know who ever had the misfortune to attend the Bealey/ Colombo outpatients for care were lucky to leave before parting with $100. will this new one be the same. The hospital A&E is clogged weekends and evenings with those without the cash to go elsewhere. The user pays is becoming a means for those with the cash available. Thousands today suffer without necessary treatment because the lack of cash means sitting for hours in Hospital A&E and just getting there can be a problem . An ambulance costs $99.#1617785joybelMemberMember since: November 2, 2006

That waste area would be better left to return naturally to its earlier state. It is unnecessary to rush into spending millions on it just now when so many other projects are in dire need for the people whose needs are greater. The inner City has had its share of the ratepayers cash. Still the Square is off limits because the Anglican Church is holding us to ransom over a Cathedral. Who is running our Council anyway. Not Ms. Dalzeil it would seem.#1617789drlivingstone May 6, 2017 at 2:46 pm
Joybel User pays just keeps socking it to us it seems.Healthcare is not free.We have experienced both The Public Health nightmare of getting to Christchurch Hospital recently and away again as well as Bealey Ave Emergency.
As for the continuing sage of The Anglican Churchs private property in Cathedral Square we are all being held to ransom.

But in Barbadoes Street I note The Catholic Church keen to restore The Cathedral of The Blessed Sacrament are getting on with the task it appears.

So 70 botched infra structure jobs in Christchurch is really hard to take given the enormous costs of this fiasco and the huge problems of endless diversions and CONES cones and more cones.!!

Good Morning Dr L – I subscribe to the Christchurch Daily Photo. Would it be OK with you if I posted some of the photos on this thread? It all depends on where the person is as to where the photo is taken but I have come across one, at least, from 2013 re the rebuild of the Avon River Precinct. Others are beautiful pictures of scenery. If you’d prefer I didn’t post them here , that’s OK, I will understand.
PS: Couldn’t resist posting the following for you#1620255vale019 May 20, 2017 at 10:48 am
Every year around late April a lone kotuku returns to the section of water that runs along the top of Linwood Avenue.
