    lilith7,

    You say this……

Once again, the families of Pike river have experts who say it is safe to enter the mine, & who are willing to take the risk.

If it is safe there is no risk. It can’t be both.

Safe is a relative term. Nothing is 100% safe. Therefore there is always risk.

Two definitions of safe from the internet are “not likely to be harmed or lost” and “not likely to cause or lead to harm or injury”.

To assess someone will be safe is when after considering all the known factors it is determined that the person is unlikely to suffer harm.

Rollercoasters are considered safe and commercial aircraft are considered safe based on the infrequency accidents happen but accidents still do happen occasionally.

    Cheers 🙂

Doogie;I am as entitled to my opinion – & to express it – as you are to yours.

    We disagree. 🙄

    Hero42,

A more accurate definition of the word safe is this; secure from liability to harm, injury, danger, or risk:
    a safe place.

    Your definition is wrong.

It would be more correct if worded; relatively safe.

Grant Robertson, Minister of Finance; James Shaw, Associate Minister of Finance; Winston Peters, Minister of Treasury. I just can’t wait for the  fireworks.

Remember, all three parties promised financial responsibility. Winston is aware that he is first cab off the rank for blame if things go pear shaped. And Winston looks after Winston.

Actually there are several areas where I can see friction between Peters and Shaw. I don’t envy Ardarn.

Just look at all those conspiracy theories yesterday on social media and here.It appears  agreement has been reached on Kermadec Sanctuary that satisfies the Greens support for protection of the Kemadecs pristine waters while assuring NZFirst that iwi and commercial fishing rights will be taken into account.

Yet until we see the evidence  Doc, it is also only theory. As Parliament has not assembled there is little evidence to suggest that the Kermadec Sanctuary is settled.

And anyone who relies on social media for information can run the risk of being misinformed. Unfortunately the same goes for the MSM.

Halcyon Well once the agreements are signed and opened for public scrutiny and  portfolios are allocated we shall see them getting down to business as they have much to do in the next 100days and beyond. With TPP  &APEC testlooming too.
