Has anyone had this procedure carried out. Daughter is having it done next week and I can almost feel the pain it must cause when the anaesthetic wears off. She will have to have the denture realigned later.

good morning Jobel, my name is Aileen – Wealth is my alis
i have had similar experience and not nice, I ended up suffering with
saw gums and ucles and throwing away my plate. there are other options available, I ended up getting a porcelin bridge and a couple of crowns and oh what a difference I should have taken time to check out the options available instead of rushing into it and listening to everyone else.
Good luck for your daughter , yes I can almost feel the pain have a gd day

For what is worth I would suggest that she let her gums heal before getting her plates as she should have less problems later on with the fit and therefore maybe less dentist visits. Good luck there ” Been there, done that ” 😀#901983nancMemberMember since: April 19, 2010

I had this done when I was early 30s – 20 yrs ago. It was the best thing I have ever done, giving me a smile I’d longed for (I had crooked teeth), regain confidence & self esteem and the dentures settled so well. So if that was 20 yrs ago, & I have had 2 sets since, even more improvements would’ve made. I don’t mind admitting I am vain and my husband rarely sees me without teeth, (they are mine & no one elses anyway Lol) let alone anyone else besides Dental technician! Good on her. She will have a new lease in life!:D#901985joybel January 30, 2014 at 12:18 pm
Teeth are scary items. The murder house when we were kids, Then a lifetime of dentists while we even put it off. Yet today childrens teeth are in danger from rubbish and neglect.

Like Nan C I had my top teeth out and dentures right away and that was in 1979. The extraction was easy as I was given liquid valium.I went back every few days for about 2-3 weeks and dentist at first helped me take them out and replace them.I had special mouthwash plus salt water washes. It was sore certainly but the end result was good.I had very poor teeth and was quite self conscious. Had so much painful dental work before the extraction ! Over time I have had to replace the denture, which is straight forward. For me it was fine and I hope Joybel that your girl has a good result.#901989joybel February 5, 2014 at 1:44 pm
daughter Skyped me as bright as a button. All the top out two below. The denture was in and though a bit of a misfit she is able to take them out. Have not heard about post op. care yet, but she is amazingly up beat about it all. She has a temporary partial plate in the bottom which they made for her as well. So all is good.

Re jan001’s post, Likewise from me Joybel and maybe soon she will be singing " fangs for the memory " ?? 😆#901995joybel February 23, 2014 at 11:04 am
Talked to her yesterday and she looks great. A wee while yet until the permanent plate is made and she will be my lovely daughter again. Took a long time to convince her to get rid of her awful teeth. can’t beat the “Coalgate’ smile. I find these super white teeth a bit over the top, but yellow ones are worse. Am surprised at the teeth many hang on to. But then, the cost to have them out is an arm and a leg these days. When you add up the cost of glasses, hearing aids and dentures, a face can be very costly to show to the public. And it is not a one off either.:shock::lol:
