It was an empty van originally, like the couriers or painters etc, but the rental company who owned it originally did the conversion, hence a permanent bed in the back, so the chap at VTNZ had a quick look and said, yes it can be changed to a self-propelled caravan. Perhaps the rental company had to register it as a commercial van. You can move the mattress and put up part of the base as a table but it’s not very good and there are no seatbelts in the back, just 3 front ones. It certainly needs looking into, but as I had been told, Land Transport doesn’t advertise this because they’d lose money. I’ve been told motor homes qualify too. Good luck everyone.

Oh Dyna! We could of had a coffee! Just went thro Canterbury on the weekend, on way to Hanmer Springs and a nice hot soak. Blimmin gorgeous! Back in gloomy Dunners and longing for the sun again, even the snow! But yes, getting expensive to go on lots of trips and now JK and his gang of thieves are at it again, hitting us with fuel hikes so it’ll be a while before I get going again. Oh well, something to look forward to.

    Hi Everyone..
Gosh….I have just come back to the group, after a long absence, it has been 12 yrs since I started this post, and finally I have achieved my dream….a 7 mtr Toyota Coaster bus…..and who scoffed at the notion that good things take time!!!…Definitely for me, it did!
A few false starts with vehicles that I wasnt confident with, and finally my dream has been realised.
2 yrs before retirement, now, bus brought & being moved into, as a permanent home….exciting times, ahead!!
