Thank goodness for the internet.  My wife had has bought a new house and settlement is next Friday. She tried to have settlement deferred but the vendor said no. These days there are far more forms needed than when she last bought a house. Some of these forms need to have someone, who is not a family member, witness her signature.

Now how to do that and maintain our bubble?

The answer appears simple. Her lawyer has witnessed her signing the forms by Facetime. She then scans the forms and sends them through to him. Very clever is it not.

I was watching the Lotto ad which says Imagine winning $7M this weekend

And I thought that should really be Imagine winning $7M this weekend and not being able to get it for 4 weeks

    Cheers 🙂

Good question Hero. Do we wait until the lockdown is lifted? Or do we claim that we have essential business to undertake? After all we need to ensure that the premise is secure. Surely our insurer would expect that? Sounds like a good excuse to me 🙂

After all we would not be breaking our bubble or coming into contact with other people.

Congratulations Halcyon on getting your new home.  Just one question though – are household removal companies considered an essential service during Lockdown? You may have a problem if they are not.

I found this information which may be helpful regarding this very question

Thanks Kai. It’s great to see people getting interested in what is happening at the moment and not obsessed with finance and climate change. This thread is a wonderful opportunity for us to communicate  safely and know that everybody is OK without getting into inane debates on whether we are saving enough or worrying about how hot the planet is getting. My best wishes to all of you, stay safe and keep your distance.

Supergold, thanks for that information. Most interesting. And very true. We have just sent off the final document to the lawyer. He emailed them to my wife who printed them, signed them and then scanned them. That scanned copy was returned to the lawyer.

But drama hit. The printer ran out of ink on the last page. And as we do not do much printing these days we do not have spare ink cartridges. I have searched the web for suppliers. Unfortunately they only supply  “essential services” not private individuals at the current time.

We are fortunate at present as our current home has not sold. However, the down side is that puts us under pressure to sell once the lockdown is lifted. It has to be sold within the next 12 months as that is when the bridging finance finishes. No good from that point of view. Still, fingers crossed.

No Supergold  household movers are not essential service, I know this as my daughter and her fiance were suppose to move into their new home they just brought on Thursday. Her fiance also had sold his home to  help buy this new home they were going to move into. Reality the booked mover called them on Wednesday and said sorry not allowed to move you on Thursday ( level 4 restrictions) So they borrowed a tailor to do it themselves as she is a now out of work teacher. But as some of the furniture needs stronger support than my daughter and fiance  can cope with they are stuck in her fiance sold home until level 4 is lifted as they cannot get help re the bubble restrictions. Also the buyers of the fiances home cannot move also for same reason  ie  no movers as they are not essential service

Yes Paulinem, there are going to be a lot of instances like you have posted with the lockdown. The important thing to bear in mind that this is an unprecedented situation and we can have no idea how it will all finish up. The main thing to think about is how we will react when it is over. I somehow doubt that life will ever be the same. Probably, at that time, the bond between your daughter and her fiance will be a lot stronger with spending all that time in their bubble only having each other to interact with.
