huiatahi “if they are divorced if they are living in the same house they will be considered to be in a partnership”
Not necessarily. I know of two couples who have divorced, in both cases are living in the same house as flatmates and all above board with MSD.
It’s OK if you disagree with me. I can’t force you to be right.#1741337huiatahiMemberMember since: March 22, 2017

I sometimes think it depends which office of WINZ you go to and who you get …. they all seem to have their own interpretation of the rules. When I worked for a government department we had a big black book of standing instructions which set out the rules so they were the same all over NZ. I’ve found out that does not happen with WINZ

I will be very surprised if this entry to the Pike River mine produces any evidence of what happened, and why, those explosions destroyed so much and the actions of personnel cannot be re created.#1741339rob023 January 25, 2020 at 5:39 pm
Don021, the budget for the re-entry mission was set at $36 million.
The agency in charge recently reported things are roughly a year behind schedule and that $36 million won’t be enough.
Much of the equipment is leased and the expiry date for all that is fast approaching.#1741344rob023 January 26, 2020 at 12:16 pm
There was a good shake last night.
An indication of Mother Nature at her best.
Have to wonder if some scientists have a plan to stop earthquakes.#1741400rob023 January 27, 2020 at 11:04 am
Spare a thought for our overworked and underpaid nurses, some of whom are being sent to airports to assist in the latest deadly virus screening process.#1741437don021MemberMember since: May 15, 2012

Are you in the nursing profession Rob, or closely associated with it? So what do you base your statement of overworked and underpaid on? I have a grand daughter nurse and have seen no sign of overwork or low pay.#1741445paulinemMemberMember since: July 8, 2006

In the last few days the topic on the media is the commemoration of the killings by the Nazis in the holocaust. We heard on the news about the horrible killing of the Jews by the Nazis, yes it was bad it was appalling horrible and equally so to all the Nazi victims, including many non Jews.
But in saying that when I saw Netanyahu speaking at he memorial on TV One news at the commemoration, as to how terrible it was etc. I notice after there was no media mention about Israels appalling killing and destruction of Palestine. Particularly after the conflict in 1967 which they stole land etc. belonging to the Palestines. Or the killing of possibly thousands ( including children )with the deliberate bombing of Gaza under this guys leadership in recent times. And destroyed goodness knows how many homes, industry employment etc which were bombed into the ground by Israel. I notice Trump or his republicans has never shown at any time concern or sympathy for the Palestines misery etc, while they happily heaped praise money etc on Israel.#1741446rob023 January 27, 2020 at 2:13 pm
Don021 Then your granddaughter is very fortunate. I hope her working conditions are as excellent throughout her career.
The first five articles in https://www.nzno.org.nz/resources/policy_analyses_and_reports/pid/4779/ev/1/categoryid/25/categoryname/nursing-shortages go into some of the problems.
If you ever do any form of hospital visiting, signs of stress and overworked is often evident.
I also see many complaints around constant call-backs and very little time for themselves outside nursing, on Facebook where many nurses vent their issues.#1741479rob023 January 27, 2020 at 7:10 pm
Halcyon, what chance RNZ or One News will run this story https://www.thepostmillennial.com/quebec-politician-praises-coronavirus-for-reducing-carbon-footprint-in-wuhan/ ?
On Saturday, Quebec politician Luc Ferrandez tweeted: “Wuhan. No automobile traffic. No air flights. The only city on the planet that will meet its GHG reduction targets.”
Previously, Ferrandez had been widely criticized for promoting the idea of committing suicide to help the fight against climate change, asking in a Facebook post, “Could we, for environmental, social and economic reasons, decide that we want to receive help to die so as not to be a burden for our family and society in general?”
Will he be leading the cause?
