I fail to see how the posts selected as “political” can be. Both deal with something that is a possibility, if not today then, in the near future. Politics has very little to do with it. IMHO it’s more to do with human greed. It would appear that I must be one of the ones that is being labelled as senile. Oh well, so be it, back to playing with my Dinky toys. LOL

Don’t get me wrong kaiapoiken, I don’t think anyone on the political threads are senile…far from it, but I think admin expects us to be

This is ridiculous.
This page is current affairs and news.
What are we allowed to discuss; gossip, recipes, celebrities, weather, the latest quack cure for ‘life’ and what to buy, consume, next?
What about the Alleged mass murderer being able to send a letter to an alt-right supporter in Russia?
What about a Police car being stolen and two fully loaded police Glocks taken when the Alleged car thief bolted?
What about unsuspecting buyers of quake affected homes in ChCh?
What about the US / China trade war and what that’s doing to ‘the markets’ and economies worldwide including ours. I wan; they’re talking recession, folks, if that’s not a subject of some interest and importance I despair.

We are surrounded by incompetence. A dangerous criminal having free reign to write letters to the unknown and police leaving keys in car with access to loaded hand guns.
Both cases could be described as dumb incompetence.#1729593halcyonMemberMember since: May 4, 2014

Very true arandar, the effects of each of those items you highlight are both of current interest and have the potential to impact our lives in the future. Therefore I fail to see how they can be classified as “political”.
Oh well, back to knitting my peggy squares. Or should I say peter squares. I don’t want to be blocked for failing to be PC.
It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.#1729595huiatahi August 15, 2019 at 7:26 pm
I think letting that terrorist prisoner to send out an uncensored letter was gross incompetence on the part of the corrections department. I know in other prisons their in/ out mail is rigidly censored and here is a scumbag who has sent out seven letters obviously with ease. Not good enough

So this polyacrylonitrile (PAN) process begins with crude oil taken from the ground thus it is factual to say the Malizia II was pumped out of the ground. It is not nitpicking and it is not scaremongering. It is a statement based on fact.
Hero42 would like to claim no one is saying we must give up our modern society.
Well Greta Thunberg is with her “We need to keep the fossil fuels in the ground.” And the thousands of school children are by demanding “the end of fossil fuels”#1729604mommabear70MemberMember since: February 20, 2017

Here’s a simple scarf pattern for you halcyon. Cast on 27 stiches. Knit 2, purl 2. Obviously end of row is knit 2 and purl 1. As many rows as you like, though I recommend 5-6 foot long, they can go round your neck twice and are deliciously warm.
Here’s a start of one using two strands of chunky.

There are alternatives to fossil fuel such as the ability to grow carbon fibres organically rather than extracting them from oil and organic alternatives to fossil fuels as well as renewable energy sources but to discuss their use and implementation would be moving into the political sphere. Do the research if you are interested and find out the options we have.
As mentioned in a previous post but seemingly missed by some there is now a process were algae convert the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere or from power stations or the steel industry onto algae oil. In a next step the oil is used to make useful carbon fibres. So carbon fibre production and building carbon fibre yachts could have a negative carbon effect.
