Speaking for myself, I’ve found it very difficult to maintain an interest in the threads and discussions that are disrupted by one or two posters pursuing (what seems to me) to be petty personal vendettas.

We had, some time ago, a poster who followed one member, not only on the political threads which is where their differences were on full display but also to the other pages and other threads. He stalked that member relentlessly, and a few others less viciously, thread to thread, day in and day out, abusing and sniping and name calling. It was ugly, mean and uncalled for but I have to say, very often, laughably incoherent and pointless. His primary target has passed away but that poster is still here under a different name however, his behaviour is considerably improved

So many members who were active then are gone now. Passed or given up? I don’t know but I do know the site is a shadow of its former vibrant self.

Well  –  “Forget  CGT, we need a new  plan” says Lizzie Marvelly in today’s Weekend Herald,  on  our  social and economic  inequality  of  haves and have-nots.

Would it not be  exciting to  discuss this  subject matter in  an un-prejudiced non-ideological  and non-political way, and  if we  discover  in our  own minds  what  we think is the indisputable truth  on it,  then let  the political threads    argue  over the  most successful ways of  harnessing   it ?

    I have to agree Brian.

The real nastiness here comes from mommabear and she seems to have a complete inability to see it.

I used to think she was that Hoskings chap from 1ZB or his wife (whose name escapes me, she was known as Worzel Gummidge because of her hair and lack or fashion sense). I still think that may be correct.

I thought that because they both had or have a complete inability to see themselves as other see them.

I am genuinely NOT trying to be unkind, but mommabear recently described herself as a Christian. She has only to read her own posts to see the fallacy of that statement.

“Oh would some power the gift give us

To see ourselves as others see us”.

Have  you not been quite rudely unkind  to Hosking’s  wife  just  now ?

Huiatahi/cook222 given you’re the same person, live in the same house but don’t know each other, you’re automatically on my list of the last people I’d trust to advise me on what exists or not.
From the outset of me being singled out, hounded and stalked by one particular member, other members of similar ilk decided to join the band wagon, adding their own brand of relentless abuse and sniping, ergo the team approach. So when you read back, as you clearly do a lot of, you’ll find plenty of pretty cutting, sarcastic, abusive, sniping and insulting remarks towards me so you can’t be surprised when some of their own medicine’s going the other way.

Jens, different rules apply to those on the other side.

    mommabear 70 –

why not forget and forgive any  deliberate  or unintended personal slights  against each other  and retreat  to  discussing  a relevant  subject matter – as much as  possible –   on an impersonal  level ?

Like say,  whatever  one’s personal view on the  “Property Owning Democracy” concept, do you think it would  be  economically advantageous  or not to achieve 100% of  citizen participation in it, and why or  why not ?

Is  not rejection of the  CGT  evidence of widespread innate  desire  for  property ownership ?

Great to see the great majority of Cantabs are against a Crusader name change,. Never should we capitulate to liberal or religious zealots. Long live the Crusaders.

Farmer008 …actually I agree with you, now that’s a turnup for the books.  The Canterbury team  has been the Crusaders for many years now and was certainly not named that as a slight towards the Islam religion.  Although I think the attack on the mosque was deplorable and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to those who have lost loved ones, I think the name should stay.

MB.  Several people disagreeing with you method of posting should perhaps suggest you might be seen as causing the problem. Do you not think you might be initiating the abuse as you call it. ?
