No, it didn’t happen to me, farmer. But thank you for your lovely comments.   😀

It was a warning I found a few years ago on facebook and I have shared it around this time each year, simply to warn people who could fall for this sort of scam. Christmas is a busy time of the year and people are often sent a present from friends or family by courier and it would be so easy to fall into the trap outlined in the scam.  😥  😥

Yes, one has to be on top of everything today.  The other day I received my credit card bill and there were all these $1.50, here a $3 odd there and $5 odd there – called up the bank to see whats it all about.  She said those are for computer games.  I have never played computer games.  She deducted them and sent me a new card.  I can’t even imagine these people, who do play those games, would have any idea of what would be legit charges? Good luck to them sorting that out!

Credit cards are I think, something best avoided. I use a debit card for anything purchased online & try to be as careful as possible but it seems the scammers are constantly coming up with new tricks.

I had to look up The league of st George – & I HOPE they’re not here in NZ;they’d be just about the last thing any country needs.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/League_of_Saint_George

“The League of St George is a neo-Fascist organization based in the United Kingdom.

The League sought to continue what it saw as a purer form of the ideas of Mosley than those offered by then leader Jeffrey Hamm.[2] In the 1970s the League became a political home for the more intellectual adherents of “Neo-Nazi” ideology, particularly those who wanted a united Europe with a European-derived population, a continuation of Mosley’s Europe a Nation policy.

The League went into hiatus in the early 1980s after an episode of ITV current affairs show World in Actionexposed its attempts to set up safe houses for suspected Italian terrorists, [15]based on information given by Ray Hill, who had been active in the League.

In 1996 it was alleged in that members of the League had recruited mercenaries for a mission in South Africa organised by Constand Viljoen with the aim of assassinating the country’s leaders and damaging its infrastructure. Ultimately the plan was foiled by the South African secret service and by a change in strategy by Viljoen, who abandoned his Afrikaner Volksfront in order to lead the Freedom Front

It continues to exist under other leadership to this day. Previously publishing a regular magazine, , which had a comparatively wide European readership, it now publishes a quarterly journal, The League Sentinel.”

I agree lillith, Debit cards are definitely the safest to use when purchasing online and also to carry when travelling overseas.

Another scam that is going around to be aware of ….

Scammers are targeting people who are on the hunt for a tiny home.

With a housing crisis sweeping the country, scammers are taking advantage of people looking for a home to call their own, creating fake competitions and giveaways to win a tiny home.
