    Hi
This is the letter and there is no mention about doctors having to OPT in
This is so misleading, I would suggest that those who have not got the new doctors fees with CSC Cards take this letter which is enclosed to their doctor and ask why does it not apply to me

I thought that there was not a problem until I went to the Doctors myself on the 3rd December and was told by the receptionist that doctors do not have to opt in

Yes I know but as I had another letter from David Clark and Heath Ministry and neither mentioned this fact. These letters are not giving out the full details of this Government Initiative of reducing Doctors fees for CSC Holders. I have been battling this and not getting anywhere

More pressure needs to be put on Doctors and government to treat all equal not much interest on term deposits to help ones income. Not sure what else I can do

The problem is the doctors are running a “Private Business” and as such can charge whatever they wish. There was a big “hoo har” about this several years back. I’m not sure whether or not it went to court but it was threatened. The Government backed down in the end anyway and admitted it was the doctors right to set their own fee. It’s no different to the supermarket setting their own prices for their products.

All the Government can do is to not pay a doctor the extra subsidy if they don’t drop their charges.

I have emailed David Clarke (MOH) and this is the gist of what I asked.  They don’t open up again till 7th Jan.

I am very disappointed over the lowering of charges for doctors fees for CSC holders. It was promoted as a “done deal” to come into effect as from the 1st Dec. and at the time nothing was announced in the promotions that doctors could opt out of lowering their charges. I was one of the lucky ones, my charges were dropped from $45.00 to $18.00. However I frequently visit a website (www.grownups.co.nz) and it seems I am in the minority. Have you any idea how many medical centres have lowered their fees Please, a little more honesty from a party who prides themselves in being a party who supports less well off people.

Hi mine has gone from $60.00 and $24.00 for prescription to $18.50 for both now
I rang Doctors Red Beach and so far they have reduced the ACC fee down but not the doctors.
They are still working through it as quite complex. This could change in the New Year.
My doctors had also said it is quite complex. Hopefully more will get on board next year.
I agree that when this announced there was nothing about Doctors being able to opt out.
Your letter mentioned it,but my two letters did not mention it. I tried in vane to get an answer.
My Doctors have not updated their website with the new fees. After Christmas I will try and do a new survey on the ones I previously looked at to see how many have changed. Well that is they have updated their websites.
Well done for writing in wish more would do so

    And sometimes it works!

A few years ago my sister was in hospital (which I wont name) with a perforation between the bowel and bladder.  She was in extreme pain and at risk of massive infection.  Because she had COPD surgery couldn’t be done in the provincial hospital and she would need to be transferred to Waikato hospital.  Evidently when a patient is transferred to another hospital the transferring hospital gets charged so they were hesitant about transferring.  It was 24th Dec and I was so mad I emailed the then Minister of Health.  About 30 mins after sending it I got an email from him saying he was on the ferry coming back from South Island and what was my ph number as he would ring me later.  He rang a few hours later to tell me my sister would be transferred in the next few days.  I got a very nasty email from the Chairman of the provincial board wanting to know if I had my sisters permission to do this so he got a piece of my mind too.  (Successful operation at Waikato)
