Chris214 – it is not yet the time for you to succumb to hopeless defeatism.

Violence has become such an ingrained fact of our society because of television culture and the promoting of sports people as gods who always seem to be photographed looking angry and ready for battle with a bag of wind. And why should a Leopard change its spots as then it would not be seen as being a leopard. Anyway maybe some on here could try erasing their minds of superstitious beliefs.

“But we can start a lot closer, and more effectively by applying proper censorship to the electronic games, and most so-called “kid’s programmes on the square box. They all major on pointless destructive violence and killing.”

While I agree that there’s far too much violence in games, TV, movies etc etc,I don’t think it would be more effective to address that first, simply because holy books have been around far long & those beliefs within it tend to permeate entire societies.to damaging effect in some instances.

“At least the Bible, while recounting what happened does give a moral behind the actions, AND gives the end result of them, good or bad, IF you care to read them in perspective.”

The problem is that at the very same time it also encourages murder, genocide, slavery & gender inequality. Those are the parts which ought to be removed so the idiot fanatic nutter element can’t use them to their advantage.

“Squirter my dear….. You have utterly and totally confused Belladonna and Dr Livingstone now.”

Bosun – I’d rather you didn’t put words in my mouth thanks. I’m perfectly capable of speaking for myself & have done for decades.

    🙄

Since we appear to now be on the subject of differing belief systems here you go Squirter. 🙂

“Sa’Tong teaches us that, once you accept the fact that God is your own creation instead of the opposite, then you yourself are God, & so is everyone else you may encounter, regardless of their race or origin. That is to say, you are responsible for your own actions, & therefore your own destiny.
We believe that our better nature, that is, our ability to choose a benign course for our actions….is by definition a higher power. Yet such decisions are our own responsibility, not the result of supernatural influence.”
“But then all you’re doing is praying to yourselves.”

“No. We pray to one another, in hopes that those around us will make the correct decisions. We have found that we are more likely to get a response that way.
Through the teachings of the Chaaz’braan, we have learned that Sa’Tong has five codicils.
The first codicil, you have already heard……..you are God, for God is the creation of the self.

The second codicil states that, if you accept this principle, you must also accept the fact that everyone is God & therefore must be treated as such, with the same amount of reverence & respect.

The third codicil states that, in order to obey the second codicil, you must never take any action that will harm others or yourself.

Likewise, the fourth codicil forbids any inaction that will lead to others being harmed, or which in turn will do harm to yourself.

And the fifth codicil states that wrongful acts must be atoned for with righteous acts of equal or greater proportion.

Accept yourself as your own higher being; respect others as if they are higher beings themselves, do no harm to anyone or to yourself, or tolerate lack of actions which, in turn, will result in harm to yourself or others around you & make amends for your failures.”

    Allen Steele

There we go Chris – something we can agree on! 🙂 😎

Don’t think there’s any chance of that Belladonna. With the length of your posts none of us would get a chance to do that eh !

Which all is rather irrelevant for clarifying or challenging the reality, that the doom or continuing prosperity of Europe depends on its capital savings rate for debt reduction and continuing investment at an adequate rate, and adequate security reserves accumulation.

The same applies to New Zealand, and let us hope it will be a prominent election issue (saving etc. for increased consumption potential first, before increasing consumption as a priority) – and not buried under a mass of side-issue details of marginal importance.

And after reading some of BD’s extreme hortatory (though I will refrain) and yes you are correct….

Squirter my dear….. You have utterly and totally confused Belladonna and Dr Livingstone now.

Are those Medals on your left side??….(fruit salad, my interpretation of medals)

Cheers love, and you an enjoyable day. 😀
