    Found this on another forum

I have some information on this Conficker worm. If you want to find out whether or not you are infected try clicking on each of these sites (copy and Paste)
    http://www.symantec.com/index.jsp
    http://home.mcafee.com/Default.aspx
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads

If your browser won’t let you get in to any these sites you could be infected with this worm, because Conficker will stop you from getting into any of those addresses, it also includes, Trend Micro, AVG, Panda et al.

If you cannot access these sites then you need to check and disinfect before April 1.
If you think you are infected go here:

    removal tool

You should check before April 1st to make sure your computer is worm free.

Conficker is not a major problem in Australasia so far, affecting mainly Sth America and Asia, but better to be safe than sorry.
It is possible to protect your computer from this problem pretty easily by changing the Domain Name Server (DNS) from your ISP to that at openDNS.com. If you do this, your browser will not connect to any Conficker infected site – pretty good, I reckon. I have used this for years and never had a problem with it.
To do this, right click on your internet connection and select properties. Highlight TCP/IP and click on properties again. Where it says Automatically select DNS, choose the next button and enter 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 in the boxes.
That’s all there is to it. There are a lot of options at the site if you want them, and of course it is all free.
