Hot water bottles come in all forms; I was touring Scotland many years ago in winter and spent a night at a very nice little pub at Granton. At bedtime the landlord warmed the bed with a copper container filled with, I presume hot coals, on a long handle, then put a stone bottle filled with hot water in my bed. Very cosy. Keep the tootsies warm halcyon.#1684322beachbelleMemberMember since: June 24, 2006

must be my lucky night to find this threads and Pearly I well remember you from 2006 when grownups first started what a busy and friendly place to visit and how times have changed. I remember the lovely open fires in the winter as I sit in my room with the efficient but impersonal heat pump. I will call inhere again maybe some more old friends will turn up. cheers.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>ok I am back from my family event, so many memories to have.</p>
it was so cold travelling there , one learns to wear more clothing, socks ,puffer jacket ,hat and fingerless gloves is me for this week.
our house is warm, brings me to the house we grew up in. old as, wall boards had gaps in them and wallpapered over with scrim then paper, boy did it breeze through if paper got torn.

Thank you Kai they are lovely.
Brings me back to my grandma who use to make flowers from crepe paper , spent many hours she did , specially the fuchsia flower , little ballerinas they were. she had a real talent to make them I reckon.
I have fuchsia shrubs here at my place as they remind me a lot of grandmas place, even though I didn’t have a lot to do with her.

Yes Pearly fuchsia flowers have always reminded me of ballerinas ever since I was a little girl.
So sorry to read of your dear brother passing away. Please accept my condolences.
Lovely to see you back on Grownups Pearly. I remember you from back in the first year or so after I joined, & also recall talking to you a few times on the chatline on here back in the days where I used to go on there.

It would be lovely to get a few more back into this thread, we always remember little things, our lives are all about memories.
Thank you also Loyal for your kind words, all help.
One of my memories I always remember being told about is that lovely little bird , the fantail, yes he visited 2 days before my brothers passing. I usually tell them to get out of here ,even though i like them picking up insects from behind us when we go walking through tree areas.
So if you have any little thoughts of things the way they were ,or are now , please share.
