Kiwanis fundraising Fantastic Classics concert to be held at St Matthew-in-the-City, Auckland on Sunday 5th March, to raise funds for the Kiwanis NZ-SP District project – South Pacific Islands Support.
The classical concert will be held in one of Auckland’s most beautiful churches – St Matthew-in-the-City – where the acoustics are ‘fantastic’.
We have some of New Zealand’s foremost classical artists engaged to perform for you. They include Michael Bell, organist and composer, former Musical Director of St Matthew-in-the-City, now the Musical Director at Kings School, Auckland; Ashley Brown, cellist with the NZ Trio and a performer in his own right; Jan-Maree Baughan, soprano-soloist who performs from a classical and contemporary repertoire; Flavio Villani and the Villani Quartet – Flavio Villani on piano, Marko Pop Ristov on violin, Helen Bevin on viola and Sarah Spence on cello. The Quartet’s music is as diverse as the group itself. Last but not least, The Shades – an up and coming quartet of Tongan – Manase Latu and Taka Vuni, and Samoan – Samson Setu and Ipu Laga’aia, voices. This group fuse their classical training with genres such as musical theatre, opera, gospel and popular music. They produce a well-blended sound with a strong feel for humour and a love of laughter.
Kiwanis is excited to have our vice-regal patron Her Excellency The Right Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy, Governor-General of New Zealand in attendance.
Tickets are on sale through www.eventfinda.co.nz or by contacting me directly. I look forward to seeing you at the concert to support children of the South Pacific Islands.
