Aikido is a Japanese martial art which develops skills in joining an opponent’s force without resistance so that it is turned back against them. Techniques involve throws and pins rather than striking or punching, and because the principal is to go with an opponent’s force, rather than against it, aikido is practical for a wide range of people.
