Rail Plus has unveiled a new '60+' price category for 2011 Eurail passes, providing mature travellers with reductions of up to 20% off standard adult prices.
To qualify for the new discount fares – available on both the Eurail Global Flexi Pass* and Eurail Global Continuous Pass** - two people aged 60 years or older must travel together.
Under the new 60+ category, a first-class 10-day Eurail Global Flexi Pass is now priced from $1016 per person (compared to $1248pp for a standard adult pass), while a first-class 15-day Eurail Global Continuous Pass now starts from $862 per person (down from $1060pp for a standard adult pass).
Rail Plus General Manager New Zealand Alka Thapar said mature travellers had always been attracted to the convenience, flexibility and cost-effectiveness of rail travel in Europe.
“New Zealanders aged 60 and over are also some of the most well-informed international travellers because they research extensively to find the right product and secure the best deal,” said Thapar. “The introduction of this new discounted fare category will make rail travel in Europe even more attractive.”
Meanwhile, Rail Plus has introduced new private car transfers in London and Paris.
In the UK, the new service transfers travellers between central London train stations and more than 1000 hotels in the city's centre. Available 24 hours a day, the transfer costs NZ$84, which covers up to three people in a car.
The service is particularly useful for passengers travelling to or from St Pancras station - the departure and arrival point for the Eurostar train linking London with Paris and Brussels.
Rail Plus is also offering the private car service between selected train stations in Paris and the city’s centrally-located hotels.
The service costs NZ$135 per car, which can include up to eight passengers.
Shared transfers, priced from NZ$41 per person, are also available to/from Charles De Gaulle and Orly Airports to central Paris hotels.
Rail Plus is Australasia’s leading international rail specialist, offering an unrivalled range of passes and point-to-point tickets on major rail networks across Europe, the UK, Asia, North America, Australia and New Zealand. For more information visit www.railplus.co.nz.
