New 'Arabian Nights' Rail Journey Explores Ancient and Exotic Lands

From Sultans’ palaces to Crusader castles, the treasures of the Middle East include some of the world's most intriguing and exotic attractions. New Zealand travellers can now explore the region on a unique 12-day rail journey travelling between the ancient cities of Istanbul and Damascus.

Passengers on the new 'Arabian Nights' journey – released this month by international rail specialist Rail Plus - travel on board a privately chartered air-conditioned train offering three cabin types.

Nights are spent on the train travelling past snow-covered mountains, narrow canyons and beautiful coastal routes, and guests also experience a selection of first-class hotels in Istanbul, Goreme, Aleppo, Palmyra and Damascus.

Along the way passengers enjoy some extraordinary experiences including an evening cruise on the Bosporus, the sights and scents of the world's largest bazaar in Aleppo and lunch at Azem Palace overlooking the Old Town of Damascus. Other highlights include:
