Penny Whiting Sailing School
A complete learn to sail course is five three hour practical lessons aboard endless summer with Penny. You can do afternoons or weekends and the total fee is $700, all inclusive, including Penny’s book or DVD and the navigation lesson. Open November until April.
In more than 40 years Penny has not missed one class and her yacht, Endless Summer, is a familiar sight on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour. Learn to sail with one of Penny's Auckland sailing courses - a sailing course is fun, inexpensive, and great for all ages!
The Yacht
The yacht, Endless Summer, is 47 feet long, and based in the sparkling Waitemata Harbour. Endless Summer is used primarily used for sailing training, and has helped thousands of people from New Zealand and around the world learn to sail.I believe you must learn to sail a large yacht before a small one, and the Endless Summer is an easy yacht to sail. She is berthed in the Westhaven Boat Harbour on marina E10 (close to RNZYS).
Sailing Lessons and Courses
The school has a well organised programme of practical sailing classes. Consisting of five three-hour sailing lessons, including navigation. The classes are run through the summer months of: October, November, December, January, February and March. There is a full timetable, including afternoon and weekend classes. A Penny Whiting sailing class is a great way to learn sailing.About Penny
Born on the morning of the Auckland Anniversary Day regatta, Penny was destined for a life at sea. As the eldest of the family, she accepted responsibility from an early age, and while still in her teens, she went into business with her brother Paul designing and building boats.
She went on to found the Penny Whiting Sailing School. In more than 40 years she has not missed one class. With help from her yacht Endless Summer, Penny has provided sailing tuition and sailing instruction to over 20,000 students, and is a familiar sight on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour.
