Larnach Castle

Larnach Castle offers you a vision of the past and present. With its exciting, sometimes scandalous and tragic history, magnificent carved ceilings, New Zealand antiques and breathtaking views.

Today, the Castle is the home of the Barker family, who have spent over forty years lovingly restoring the building and recreating the beauty of the 14 hectares of gardens and grounds.

Larnach Lodge

Larnach Lodge accommodation is purpose built within the grounds of Larnach Castle. Being built beside the original historic Stables and over the foundations of old farm buildings, Larnach Lodge was designed as a re-creation of a colonial farm building, positioned with spectacular harbour, ocean and Peninsula views.

Twelve themed rooms, encapsulating the historic Larnach Castle setting. All feature en suite shower (premiums have bath and shower), heater, phone, TV, radio alarm, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, guest laundry, car parking.

Camp Estate – Opening early 2011

Situated 500 metres from the Larnach Castle gate, is ‘Camp Estate’, a glamorous new stone manor house, positioned on Castle land. It is planned that the rooms will be luxuriously decorated, with particular attention being paid to guest comfort.

This boutique lodge has five spacious bedrooms; decorated in the neo classic style. A particularly lovely feature of these rooms will be the fire place and pastoral views of the surrounding countryside.

Stable Stay

Located beside Larnach Lodge, in the grounds of Larnach Castle, the historic Stables are a 135 year old Category 1 listed historic building.

The lower part of the Stables includes the breakfast area; a guest lounge, laundry, and Internet area; and a display highlighting the original Stable horse stalls.

The upper part of the Stables includes a further six guest rooms. These rooms are limited in size and have shared bathroom facilities, providing a more economical option for the budget conscious traveller, while still allowing guests to experience Larnach Castle (and have dinner in the Castle).
