Further north the Sunshine Coast beckons those seeking a quieter pace and if you are there with a rental car you can have a huge amount of fun exploring this pristine area.

The Mackay Region with its unspoilt beaches and National Parks and Airlie Beach and the surrounding beautiful islands, are both great bases to visit the Great Barrier Reef from.

Townsville, Australia’s largest tropical city, is the perfect base for those wanting to explore nearby tropical islands like the magic Magnetic Island. Tropical North Queensland is certainly growing in popularity for kiwis. Cairns and Port Douglas in particular are becoming favourites for those looking for a true Queensland holiday.
