Dream Trip to France Becomes a Reality

Glenys Perkins woke up convinced a life‐changing event was about to happen. She even went as far as joking with her PA about needing to have a passport ready.

So it can’t have been too big a surprise when later that day she received a phone call from publishing company Hachette NZ saying she was the winner of a trip for two to France to see the Lascaux Caves.

The sought ‐after prize was open to customers who pre‐ordered The Land of Painted Caves ($60 RRP, Hodder & Stoughton), the long‐awaited final instalment in Jean M. Auel’s ‘Earth’s Children’ series. West Coaster

Glenys, who is currently living in Christchurch, had purchased her copy through Paper Plus Hornby.

When Glenys woke up at 2am the night before she found out about her big win, it had been this book she turned to, and the evocative writing stayed with her.

“I fell asleep thinking how absolutely wonderful it would be to see those caves, walk the trails, smell the air and experience the region,” she says.

That dream will now become a reality for Glenys who is faced with the hard task of deciding who she’ll take with her on this trip of a lifetime.
