Day-by-Day Itinerary
Thursday, August 26th - Depart for England and the "World Of Coronation Street".Gather at Auckland International Airport and embark on your flight to Manchester.
Friday, August 27th - Arrival day, Sherry reception and dinner (D)Upon arrival at Manchester Airport we meet our Tour Director. After checking in to our city centre hotel there is free time for a rest or an afternoon stroll before an early evening sherry reception and informal supper in the hotel. Optional early night or visit to the local ‘Rovers’ for a British pint.
Saturday, August 28th - Holmfirth, Saddleworth, Ashton (B, D) Free time to explore the beautiful Yorkshire village used as the setting for TV’s longest-running comedy Last of the Summer Wine. Followed by scenic drive through the Pennine Hills and through beautiful villages. We then call at a couple of Corrie locations before dropping you back at the hotel late afternoon. Local restaurant dinner tonight
Sunday, August 29th Wilmslow, Rural Cheshire, Arley Hall. Evening meal (B, A, D) Enjoy a relaxing drive through rolling countryside which combines scenery with some Corrie locations we’ve never visited before. Then we have time to take in Arley Hall, a privately owned stately home, with over 500 years of history. Oh, and it’s where Maria and Liam, and Mike Baldwin and Linda tied the knot. We’ll whisk you back to the hotel in time to prepare yourselves for a special buffet dinner with interesting guest.
Monday, August 30th - Morning free. Afternoon locations tour around Salford Quays and shopping mall. (B)You’ll have the morning free so that you can explore Manchester on your own. During the afternoon we visit more TV locations around the city and enjoy some free time at the huge Trafford Centre shopping mall. The evening is free for you to catch up on the latest Corrie episode.
Tuesday, August 31st - The Studios. Evening free (B, A, D)It’s time for that special moment as we enter Coronation St. itself for an exclusive tour of the studios. The rest of the day will be your own – to explore the city, enjoy a pint & dinner in a nearby pub or calm down after all the excitement!
Wednesday, September 1st - National Museum of Film and Television, Bradford, Esholt, Boundary Mill shopping and fish and chips. (B, A, D)You’ll have time to explore this fascinating museum and to explore classic British film, TV and radio moments. Then we call in at Esholt, the setting for farming soap ‘Emmerdale’ before we cross the border into Lancashire. Next stop is Boundary Mill, a large discount shopping experience. Then we’ll enjoy traditional fish and chips in one of the county’s best eateries at tea-time.
Thursday, September 2nd - Beautiful Derbyshire and historic trams. (B, A)Derbyshire is a stunning county – home to picturesque market town s such as Bakewell (where the famous pudding (it’s not a tart!) was invented), Matlock (a beautiful spa town which was used as filming location for ‘Peak Practice’) and Buxton, home to gracious regency terraces. We will journey through the stunning countryside as we head to Crich, home to a wonderful heritage park where you can visit bygone shops, take tram rides and step back into history.
Friday, September 3rd - History, Market shopping and an Evening theatre trip (B, D)Find out about Manchester’s history (and see a few Corrie locations too!) First call today is the fascinating Science and Industry Museum where you’ll have some time to explore at your own pace. Then we’ll visit some of the outlying districts of Manchester that you might recognise from Corrie storylines. Final call is Bury, a famous district where you can take in the huge traditional market or sample the local delicacy, black pudding. Then it’s back ‘home’ to rest and an early dinner in the hotel before our trip to the theatre.
Saturday, September 4th - The Coast and Blackpool Illuminations (B, L)Time to take in the sea air as we pass by some of the west coast scenery. You’ll get a chance to explore some coastal towns before we pass through the world famous Blackpool Illuminations on our way home.
Sunday, September 5th - Morning service at the Coronation St Church followed by location tour. Farewell Gala Dinner. (B, D)A special treat as we join parishioners at the church used for all the big weddings funerals and baptisms for a celebratory service. We then travel around the city calling at some final familiar Corrie locations until mid-afternoon. Time for a rest until we meet again for dinner with a
SPECIAL GUEST.
Monday 6 September - Homeward bound (B)All good things must come to an end so it’s farewell England as we transfer you to Manchester Airport for your return flight to Auckland.
