Experience a Molesworth Heritage Tour This Year

Don’t miss out, become part of the magic of Molesworth on our premier Four Day Tour of the iconic Molesworth Station and the surrounding high country. Meet new friends, hear the history, old stories, and meet the local farmers with their families.  Our guides are also locals who are passionate about the area and will ensure you will have a memorable experience.

The Molesworth Tour Company conducts tours with small groups of up to 14. We visit farms and families no other company has access to.

The first day involves an olive oil tasting experience from oil grown and processed from the grove. Lunch is at the first South Island’s sheep station. With an interesting talk on the history, people of the surrounding area.

We visit Yealands Estate New Zealand’s most Eco tech winery, with some of the best wine in the world for tasting.

The first nights stay in an historic homestead Ugbrooke Country Estate with old style gardens surrounded by vineyards. Imagine sitting on the verandah sipping Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc drinking in the views across the Vavasour vineyards to the Awatere River and further across to Clifford Bay and the North Island.

Day two is up the Awatere Valley to a high country sheep station, a supplier to Icebreaker. Meet the family and enjoy a cup of tea and talking farming.

Onto Molesworth Station to look at historic buildings and hear the rich history that helped form our country economically and culturally. Driving past towering mountains, river valleys, native plants, cattle all under a beautiful clear blue sky.

Over nighting at the thermal area of Hanmer Springs, a swim in the hot pools before experiencing some of New Zealand’s best cuisine.

After a good night’s sleep it’s into Molesworth Station again. A trip through wide open spaces, mountains, lakes, rivers and into our cooling Mountain Beech forests of Rainbow Station. A river crossing over a swing bridge for those who wish to have a view from THE ROCK.

Tonight is spent in another historic homestead with a difference as you will note on arrival. Very comfortable beds, a crackling fire in romantic dining surroundings, traditional wild cuisine and an opportunity  purchase local wine and beer from the smallest bar in New Zealand.

Today is day four and your trip takes you to visit Lakes Rotoiti and Rotoroa and with a DOC centre visit included.  Lunch is at a family home with views from their sprawling deck with views across the Howard River and surrounding farm land.

Later in the day a stop off at Lavender farm for afternoon tea and a stroll through the fragrant gardens and a chance to purchase lavender handcrafts. Return to Blenheim late afternoon.

We will pick you up and drop off from your accommodation in Blenheim.
All food and accommodation is included in the price whilst on tour.
