A to Z of our Music Library

We recently played our entire music library in alphabetical order back to back, 24 hours a day! It was loads of fun and we thank you for your feedback.

We will definitely be brining the 'A to Z of our Music Library' back and next time there will be even more songs, as we are continually adding music to the library.

by AaronG 27th September 2009 Yay certainly looking forward to hearing some great songs we haven't heard in a while, How many weeks will this be going for?? surely more than a week cause otherwise it really can't be every song you have.
by Solid Gold Admin 28th September 2009 Hi Aaron, we will be running the A to Z of our Music Library 24 hours a day from 9am on Monday - it will run for one week (we did the maths so hopefully that works!) We are definitely playing our ENTIRE music library - will be lots of fun, with things like 3 versions of Hooked on a Feeling in a row, for example!
by AaronG 5th October 2009 Loving the music so far, although what happened to posting the songs on the web page?? Oh yeah another point, What happened to playing every song because I have noticed that you are only playing ONE version of each song e.g. Bring it on home to me You played the sam cooke version but not the animals version even though you do have both cause you used to play both, also bend me, shape me only the american breed version not the amen corner despite the fact you have both. Just though I would point that out, otherwise sounding great guys, keep it up
by Kiwifan 5th October 2009 Lovin' the music today! Thank you so much for once again coming up with a great idea and keeping things fresh although like Aaron I too wondered about several versions of some songs. I think I missed "Alice's Restaurant", this morning so can you put up the tracks for us like you did for the 500 and 1000 promos? Cheers. Keep up the good work guys, we love ya for it. Rock on! Regards, Rusty. PS, you do know you are THE BEST station out there don't ya?
by tigerpaw 7th October 2009 I really enjoy listening to your station, Just cant get enough of your music :-) But I have a question - you played a song on monday called Angel Baby(?), Cant you tell me who was the artist.
by AaronG 7th October 2009 Hey tigerpaw, I think the song you are thinking of is Angie Baby by Helen Reddy not angel baby, hope that helps
by Solid Gold Admin 8th October 2009 Hi tigerpaw - the song 'Angel Baby' is by Dusk. AaronG is also right that there is a song called 'Angie Baby' by Helen Reddy, they were both played about 3 songs apart on Monday :) Thanks for your feedback!
by Daisy Daisy 8th October 2009 The music is great - so many songs I haven't heard for such a long time. I hope you'll do this again - soon. And so we get to hear the ones we might miss (being at work or asleep or whatever), can we start from A on a different day - say Friday morning. Thanks
by tigerpaw 8th October 2009 Thank you AaronG. I will go look for that song and see if you are right. Once again Thanx heaps
by AaronG 8th October 2009 ahh interesting I didn't know about the angel baby song by dusk, I must have missed it. This is what I love about this countdown, i'm hearing songs I don't know, it's great :)
by tigerpaw 8th October 2009 Thank you Solid Gold Admin - Angel Baby by Dusk was the song I was referring to. Thank you for being so helpful. You guys have a great station and I have converted my friends to your great music. We love it. PLEASE keep up the great work you do.
by Waikatopete 10th October 2009 Thanks for the A to Z, which made for great listening. I thought Xanadu by (I think) Mickey, Titch et al, may have squeezed in there for an 'X'. There's a song called Running Man by Lindisfarne (UK Top 10 '78) which is a great song that may fit your format. And perhaps for a little extra kiwi flavour, Miss September by Bulldogs allstar band. :)
by Waikatopete 10th October 2009 My mistake : it's called Legend of Xanadu, so probably would have been played under the L's.
by mrsblue 10th October 2009 hi solid gold i have thoroughly enjoyed a to z ive listened to it every chance and what a great feeling when you get that "oh yeah i remember that song" warm fuzzy, really looking forward to the list being posted on your webpage.
by Solid Gold Admin 13th October 2009 You can now see the entire list of songs in the A to Z of our Music Library - click the link in the article now... for all 30 pages of it!
by tigerpaw 13th October 2009 Thank you thank you thank you Solid Gold FM. Its great having a list of your songs and artists at your finger tips. Keep up the great work you guys do.
by AaronG 13th October 2009 Cheers For That Solid Gold, Good to see all of the songs I missed out on while I was doing the unfortunate task of sleeping, Keep up the good music :)
by mjt88 14th October 2009 Is that a complete list of the library? Because I heard some songs played this morning that aren't in there, like 'Changes' by David Bowie.
by Solid Gold Admin 14th October 2009 This is the complete list of our music library as we played them last week with the A to Z of our Music Library. We have since added 'Changes' by David Bowie and numerous other songs to our playlist (we are continually adding songs). Enjoy!
by gootsman 15th October 2009 hi, since you are adding songs all the time do you think you could add: Private number, by Judy clay & William Bell. also Minnie skirt mini, by Wilson Picket, hope you can.
by gootsman 15th October 2009 hi,can`t say i heard: Rain on the roof, loving spoonfull. Boulder to Birmingham, the Hollies. or California, Manfred Mann. i`m sure that i have heard them on Solid Gold before, i must have it`s the only station i listen to,cheers.
by Spyda 15th October 2009 Great show guys Although I missed many I would like to have heard again, I was glad to hear "Roly Poly". I was beginning to suspect the fun-police must have banned it. What happened to "Winchester Cathedral", and "1-2-3 Red Light"?
by Lovelee22 16th October 2009 What happened to "Xanadu?"
by Solid Gold Admin 18th October 2009 Hi, it is actually called 'The Legend of Xanadu' - you'll find it under T :) - tripped up a few people that one!
by Lovelee22 27th October 2009 Oh - whoops!!
by Boz 30th October 2009 Hi, I would be the first to admit that you have some great songs in your A to Z list, but if that's it, its not that impressive for a radio station who is suppose play the greatest hits of the 60s and 70s. Yes you have some great songs but the problem is you play the same old songs over and over and over again, you can only take so much of Have I The Right by the Honeycombs. Most of the songs in the A to Z list you rarely play, Come on Solid Gold get your act together, if you say you play the greatest hits them play them all, give us some variety. I am sure you can get hold of more songs from Deep Purple, Chicago, Bee Gees, etc, we never hear them, and what about NZ music, music from the 60os in NZ was the greatest but you rarely play it, not even in NZ Music Month. I look forward to hearing some new songs PC
by AaronG 30th October 2009 Boz, I'm with you on that one, more of everything would be great, I still would like to know where all of your songs have gone, I have been listening to solid gold now for nearly 6 years and back in 2004 you did what you called a back catalouge blowout where you played through your entire library and that took over a month 24/7 not 5 days so one does wonder where all this music went....
