MACCA'S PROFILE
Macca is the eternal sixteen year old! He describes himself as the "Most Powerful Man in New Zealand Broadcasting". (Oh Nelly he's off his rocker again!)
Esoteric, Eclectic and Avante Garde Macca truly believes pink elephants fly over Scotland Yard but he does have a deep and abiding love for all creatures so back to the trunk!
Macca has 38 years in radio and some in television - here's a bit more about Macca:
The best part about working at Solid Gold: The music (it's what stimulates me and always has been)
Favourite Music: 60s and 70s music plus a lot before during & after those decades! My teenage son Jesse keeps me up with the play so I'm aware of whats hot, hip and happening
Favourite Pastime: Travelling - especially with my son Jesse. I get a buzz out of staying at nice hotels (I'd rather go broke than miss out on that)
Favourite Food: I'm part Irish, so Irish Stew mixed with a drop of Guinness, mashed spuds quadrupled up with a heap of veges!
Four people I'd love to share dinner with: Clint Eastwood, Rod Stewart (drinks provider) Jonah Lomu plus the always 'easy on the eye' Mrs Hewitt, her husband Lleyton, oops thats five! Ok there's also Jesses' sports hero Roger Federer and Jesse, as well as his Mum, YOU, The Black Eyed Peas, my Irish chef buddy James, Solid Gold's Vaughan and Hayley plus his girlfriend and her husband, please stop it and FULL STOP to follow. (Can someone tell Macca how to count to four?!)
Loves: Rugby and all sport - the biggest Counties Manukau fan in the world. Reading magazines, relaxing by the pool in a hot climate and an occasional beer.
Likes: Big cities and also small places in this great country of ours. Watching TV, especially the David Letterman Light Night on Prime TV, films and shopping.
Priorities: Most important priority in life - being a Dad.
Dislikes: People who have their ego-to-talent ratio slightly out of synch.
Sums his career up with an Elvis Song - if you're looking for TROUBLE you've come to the right place!!
He's part Irish, part Maori (show me the money!!) and thankfully only a part-time Disc Jockey!
