WEDNESDAY 16 JUNE

I've been off the smokes for 9 days today and I'm feeling positive. The cravings come and go and I still feel a sense of loss but I just keep reminding myself of the health benefits and the money saved. I take each day as it comes!

MONDAY 14 JUNE

One week down and I'm still hanging in there! I must admit it was a bit of a struggle over the weekend but I managed (just) to keep my cravings under control. It really is a mind game most of the time and a real battle to stay focussed but so far so good.

TUESDAY 8 JUNE

Gosh, where has the time gone to? Here we are June already and the winter weather has well and truly set in. I've started this week determined to stop smoking not only because of the health implications, but also the recent price increase is a huge consideration. I received my nicotine patches and gum from Quitline and I'm hoping they will give me the impetus I need to help me quit for good. Wish me luck!

Lots happening at Solid Gold FM right now with our Cat Stevens triple play competition with a trip to see Cat Stevens live in concert in Sydney up for grabs and we are very excited about our very first CD release, Solid Gold Sixties. It features great songs from all your 60's favourites and a must have for your collection.

FRIDAY 16 APRIL

Hello...how've you been?

Hasnt the autumn weather been kind lately! I'm delaying wearing long pants and jumpers for as long as I can. As much as I enjoy the summer I do kinda look forward to the winter months though being warm and snug at home. Goodness knows we need rain as the ground now looks like an earthquake has struck. My sister leaves to go back home to the UK next week and it will be sad to see her go. We went to see the kiwi film 'Boy' the other night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its a coming of age story with lots of humourous moments and great performances. Its good to see the local film industry producing good quality entertainment. This weekend I'll be joining some of the Solid Gold FM crew at the Warriors game in the Mad Butchers Lounge @ Mt Smart. He is a great host and we always have a fun time...even if the Warriors don't win! I'm hopeful this will be a successful season for the league boys in spite of early season injuries. A new feature of my show is the  All Request Lunch. Sometimes it can be difficult getting through on the phones, so, if you've got a favourite song from the 60's or 70's you'd like me to play drop me email rrennie@mediaworks.co.nz

THURSDAY 25 MARCH

Hello there. An exciting week ahead at Solid Gold FM as we announce the winner of our Cruise Collection with Muzza on Monday morning 29th March. Some lucky person will win a fabulous cruise in the Fiji Islands so the very best of luck if you've got all 15 items correct...don't forget to register your answers on our website!

Easter is just around the corner too and whether you're relaxing at home or heading away for a break I hope you have a safe and happy holiday. I will be taking leave for 10 days over Easter and plan to spend a few days on Waiheke Island with family. We have booked a house right on the beach and fingers crossed the weather behaves and the sun comes out to play. It really is a lovely spot and I'm looking forward to relaxing and taking things easy.

Mark Smith will be filling in for me while I'm away. A new feature of the show is our lunchtime requests, so, if you've got a favourite song you'd like to hear please give me/Mark a call on 0800765434 and we'll play it back between 12 and 1pm.

Have a great Easter!

FRIDAY 12 MARCH

It's definitely feeling a little cooler as Autumn starts to make its presence felt. Great for sleeping at night but I'm still spending a fortune on water bills keeping the garden moist. A few days of rain would be nice but I hope it stays fine until at least after Easter. I'm taking some leave that week to spend some quality time with my sister before she returns to the UK. Well, what a fizzer the Chapell/Hadlee cricket series turned out to be. After such a promising start the Black Caps batting proved once again to be a major disappointment and they have been totalled outclassed by a very talented Aussie team. Oh well, theres always the two tests but I'm not going to hold my breath. The NRL season starts this weekend and I'm hoping the Warriors will have a better season this year. It proved to be a big mistake bringing Stacey Jones back last year. He was a great player in his day nonetheless.

Our Cruise Collection continues next week...dont forget to listen to Muzza for the items @ 7.40am for your chance to win a fabulous luxury cruise in the Fiji Islands.

FRIDAY 5 MARCH

Well here we are another week done and dusted. I can't believe its March already and that Autumn is upon us. There was a definite chill in the air this morning and the thought of winter approaching makes me sad. Plenty to get excited about this weekend though with our Super 60's weekend...all those great songs from the decade that defines todays music bringing back memories of hippies, love-ins, protests, Woodstock, free love, platform shoes and affros! Hasn't the cricket with the Aussies been exciting so far and I hope the Black Caps can continue their winning ways in the 2nd one dayer at Eden Park on Saturday. And, good luck to the Wellington Phoenix in their qualifying match against the Newcastle Jets in the capital on Sunday. Wellington is gonna rock this weekend with a sellout crowd. Macca will be there voicing his support. We have an awesome competition starting this Monday with Muzza's Cruise Collection. You have a chance to win a fabulous Fijian Cruise with all the trimmings. Make sure your listening at 7.40am and good luck.

Have a great weekend!

FRIDAY 26 FEBRUARY

Hello...I hope you've had a great week!
Congratulations if you won James Taylor/Carole King concert tickets on our Tickets at Two this week. You're in for a great show either in Auckland or Christchurch. Next week we'll have tickets to see Al Di Meola, the world renowned guitarist with the World Sinfonia to be won. Best of luck!
It's been a busy time at home this week with my sister and her husband visiting from the United Kingdom. My sister comes out every year to spend time with the family and its always good to catch up and spend some quality time together. They have been enjoying our summer weather after a miserable winter back home and will soon travel to the South Island to visit friends who live on D'Urville Island and go whale watching in Kaikoura.
I'm looking forward to the upcoming Australian cricket tour and will no doubt be spending a lot of time in front of the box watching all the action...go the Black Caps! I must say I have enjoyed all the events from the Winter Olympics the past two weeks. So many thrills and spills and the coverage has been excellent. Maybe now I can catch up on all my favourite telly shows I've had to record.
Til next time...Rick

MONDAY 15 FEBRUARY

I wish it would rain and wash away this humid weather...its been hanging around for days now and I want a decent nights sleep instead of tossing and turning and feeling bleary eyed in the mornings. There is, however, plenty to watch on TV for the night owls at present with the Winter Olympics being broadcast 24/7 on four channels on Sky. I was so impressed with the opening ceremony in Vancouver. I found it a very uplifting experience, with much emotion and wonderful heartfelt speeches. If only the world could share this great feeling of unity and pride everyday. Lets hope our 16 Kiwi competitors will have something to celebrate over the next two weeks!
