What an excellent week it's been. Had an amazing weekend in Christchurch, catching up with some dearest oldest friends. Friends who forgive each of our wee foibles and always there for you, they are always few and far between and should always be treasured. On the Friday night, we had a great reunion dinner with lots of Dom, great food and a plethora of reds, along with great memories of our days flatting together in Hackthorne Road, where we had the greatest parties attended by people like Ray and Dennis from Dr Hook, The Hollies, Fairport Convention and many more. We were the talk of the town. It was at a time when my career soared and I won the award from Billboard magazine as one of the top ten presenters in the world and the best in the southern hemisphere. I can tell you some amazing things went on there, the best being a Priest, Nuns and Prostitutes party. But enough partying.
I have to get in a special plug for The Court Theatre. A couple of ladies decided I needed some culture so they dragged me, screaming, to see a play called On The Rocks. It’s the story about the rocky non-sexual relationship between DH Lawrence (Women in Love and Lady Chatterley’s Lovers, and Katherine Mansfield (originally from New Zealand). They were both explosive people and these days would be diagnosed with depression, so we are not alone :) I loved it, fantastic, noticed some ladies with bobs bobbing down behind their seats when the lead removed all his gear to display a huge appendage. But all that aside, if you get the chance check out On the Rocks.
Well the All Whites have stunned the world this week, they are megastars. I have had emails from Boston, New York and The UK saying it was great to see the minnows of the tournament doing so well. The thing we should always remember they were never beaten. Ryan Nelson has apparently been beating himself up over the scoreless draw with Paraguay, a land-locked country inhabited by rosary bead swinging Catholics - great effort lads it was. Talking with Noah Hickey who was doing comments on TV1, he told me he had been up till 4.30, rushed home put some Vogels in the toaster and then headed back to Tv1 for Breakfast... that’s some constitution.
I am looking forward to wee fitness regime I am about to embark on. I'll tell you more over the coming weeks between 5am and 10am on Solid Gold FM in your hometown.
Now to what only can be called a Darwin award. On Thursday afternoon I wanted to check out some applications for my Apple laptop, so went to Magnum Mac and parked in a large car park. I did my stuff and 2 hours later headed back to my car, and noticed someone had left their right hand indicator flashing. As I drew closer I realised the blinking indicator was mine. I had jumped out my car, left the keys in the ignition, left the radio on and the engine running. God I felt like an absolute dope. So I called AA and a former radio mate of mine was on the call desk, he nearly wet himself when I told him what had happened. He told me the AA get a thousand calls everyday from people who lock their keys in the car, but this one was unique to me as he said Muzz, it could only happen to you. Anyway the AA arrived and got me back into my car, which surprisingly was till running and the radio still blaring.
And with that, this a very red faced Muzza reminding you to be listening between 5 and 10 am weekdays for the Muzza in the Morning show, we have the Yee Ha song, Lost 45, Entertainment news and much more. I talk with President Obama every Wednesday, Felicity Price keeps us up to date with News from the Garden City and Jono Coleman from Sydney and next week we'll continue World Cup coverage chatting with Mark Stafford.
