Woah it has been a while since I last blogged hasn't it? What have I been up to? hmmm... well my husband and I caught up with a friend from Broadcasting School and her husband and had dinner at their house which was lovely. We looked through each other's wedding photos and had a really nice roast dinner. Miranda also cooked a pumpkin pie for dessert which I was, to be honest, a little skeptical about as I'm not a fan of pumpkin but I tried it and LOVED it! I went back for seconds and also got the recipe. I made it at home last weekend and almost ate the whole pie myself, it is so delicious! So I thought I would share it with you:
Spicy Pumpkin Pie
Microwave recipe, but you can bake in oven - if so, bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 20-25 minutes.
You will need to cook 350g pumpkin for this recipe. Mash until smooth;do not add any milk for butter. Recipe is unsuitable to freeze.
CRUMB CRUST
90g butter
1 1/2 cups (185g) plain sweet biscuit crumbs
1/4 teaspoon mixed spice
SPICY PUMPKIN FILLING
1 cup mashed pumpkin
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmet
3 eggs
CRUMB CRUST:
Melt butter in a bowl on high for one minute.
Stir in crumbs and mixed spice. Press crumbs firmly over base and side of a 22cm pie plate.
Cook on high for one minute cool.
Pour filling into crumb crust, cook on medium high for about 18 minutes or until filling is just set.
Stand 10 minutes before cutting.
Serve warm or cold.
Enjoy!

Hello there! It has been a while since my last blog, my apologies. This year is whizzing by and I'm not sure yet what I have achieved (apart from getting married!).
Friends of ours, Kellyanne and Fraser, who live in Perth have just welcomed into the world a new baby daughter, Ally, so I'm very excited for them and for their other daughter Lexi who was our flowergirl at our wedding. It's a shame we can't be there to see Ally, but photos on facebook are a good substitute for now! I recently also found out that another friend of mine is pregnant so that is great news too - it's the year of marriages and babies! (and no, there are no babies on the way for me just yet - we are enjoying married life for now!)
I have just come back from a weekend away in Christchurch for my husbands birthday - we caught up with his family and also went to the Crusaders / Waratahs game at the new AMI Stadium which was a lot of fun. We were in the new Deans stand too, and had great seats. I was very impressed with the stadium and how easy it was to find your seats and get in and out in the crowd. Shame the game was boring despite Canterbury winning!
I have a busy week ahead - I have to get a new tyre and brake pads for my car and also have all our Thank You cards to write out and send to guests from our wedding so that will take a while (such a fun job too!)
I promise to write another blog soon :)
Hayley
Yesterday I got my wedding photos back from our photographer James Jubb at Envious Photography in Invercargill and I am super pleased with them. He has done an amazing job and despite it being so windy on the day you can barely tell in the photos. So now we have the fun job of choosing 70 photos to include in our magazine style album that he will put together and also 1 photo to be used for a stretched canvas for our wall - tricky decisions!
It's also my 27th Birthday on Sunday 28th - I don't have much planned yet, possibly a nice dinner out with my husband (Lone Star - yum!) and a nice relaxing day at home. I did promise the boys at work that I would bring in some of my lolly cake on Monday so I'll spend the weekend in the kitchen baking too!
We have a really exciting competition starting on Monday - we are giving away a prize you would LOVE to win so listen to Muzza 7.40am Monday morning to find out all about it.
Have a lovely weekend

I am a married woman now! So no more 'Hayley Black' I am now 'Hayley Gallop' (thanks Kally for the awesome new last name!) We got married on Saturday 30 January at my parents farm at Tihaka which is just outside of Riverton in Southland. We had our ceremony in a marquee on a hill that has great views out to sea (we have great views of Stewart Island from my parents farm) and everything was amazing! The week leading up to the wedding the weather in Southland was fantastic - lovely sunny days with low wind so I was expecting another gorgeous day on Saturday but when I woke up on wedding morning I cried! It was pouring down with rain and there were puddles everywhere, including inside the marquee... a river of water was running through it so I wasn't overly happy. We went down to the local hair salon (XCel in Riverton) to get our hair and make up done and by the time we came out (about 11.30am) the rain had dissappeared and the sun was peaking its head out but it was incredibly windy. I was happier, but not happy that my hair was getting pulled in all directions by the wind!
It was really fun to be getting dressed and ready at Mum and Dad's house looking out at the marquee watching the guests arrive and even seeing Kally and his groomsmen arrive in the wedding cars. When 2pm rolled around I was a ball of nerves - more about stuffing up my vows or tripping on my dress than anything else! The wedding cars pulled up to the back door of the house and myself and my bridesmaids (Kate, Haley and Sasha) and my flowergirl (Lexi) all piled into my husbands Mk3 Zephyr and we were driven across the paddock to the entrance of the marquee. Then it all began... the day I had been dreaming about since I was 5 years old. We walked down the aisle to the song 'Baby, I Love Your Way' sung by Mig Ayesa and our ceremony was a very emotional teary-eyed one. We lit a candle for those who couldn't be with us on the day due to death or distance and some special words were said about my sister Sonia who passed away in 1999. We also did a 'rose and vessel' ceremony where I gave Kally a vase, he gave me a rose and together we placed the rose into the vase to symbolise the beauty we see in each other and every year on our anniversary we will now place a rose into the vase. It was really lovely.
We signed the register to the song 'Everlong' by the Foo Fighters and once we were announced as Husband and Wife (we kissed about 7 times!) we walked back through our guests to the song 'You're My Best Friend' by Queen. This is one of our favourite songs and the words are so true for us.
Our photographer James Jubb from Envious Photography in Invercargill (AMAZING photographer by the way!) was very on to it and got us all organised for family photos before taking the bridal party away for our photos. I had so much fun at the beach with Kally and our closest friends taking silly photos and the more romantic ones... it was a great way to spend our first few hours as husband and wife together.
Our reception was at The Ascot Park Hotel in Invercargill and our 160 guests were waiting for us when we arrived. We had a marshmallow theme... everything was marshmallows (including our wedding invitations, table centre pieces, wedding cake, table seating chart, favours, toast lists and more) and the band 'Post No Bills' performed for us that evening. They were amazing!
The speeches were really good too - my Dad said the most amazing things to me and it was very emotional. Kally's speech lasted for about half an hour (he went on and on!) but everything he said was so well said and really nice. My new father-in-law is definitely not a public speaker but he did a great job and it is nice to know I am very welcome in their family (I better be, seeing as we have been together now for over 7 years!)
All in all it was a fantastic day - the best day of my life. I was wearing my dream dress (thanks to 4EverAfter Bridal in Invercargill) and marrying my dream man!
These are some of the photos we took on our cameras during the day and there are plenty more on Facebook if you want to see them. Just search for 'Hayley Gallop' and add me as a friend to have a sneak peek!

I have just returned to Auckland after a six day break over Christmas - I went home to Riverton (in Southland) for the first four days where I was able to take part again in the Riverton Christmas Eve Parade. The parade gets bigger and better every year and this year was huge! It lasted for over 30 minutes with a heap of floats, community groups, classic cars, big trucks and tractors and more! It even featured a return of KISS (my Dad and three other Lions Club members love to dress up and perform!) and yours truly was a clown! I had the job of walking along in my clown suit alongside the floats handing out balloons and colouring books to children - was loads of fun.
It was really nice to be able to have Christmas day with my parents again this year - we opened our presents early in the morning (lucky me got new skincare products, jewellery, gift vouchers and more and I got my parents tickets to see Cliff Richard) and then drove for three hours to Cromwell in Central Otago where we had lunch with my Aunty and Uncle and my Granny. Lunch was delicious and as always I ate too much but still had room for dessert (who can say no to trifle, ambrosia, pavlova and cheesecake?!). We then drove back home that same day and headed to another Aunty and Uncle's place for tea.
We always have a big family get together on Boxing Day with my Dad's side of the family (there are well over 100 of us) and then the 27th was spent relaxing at home with Mum and Dad. We did some gardening and had the neighbours over for tea (yummy Blue Cod and new potatoes).
Mum and I drove to Christchurch on the 28th (it takes about 7-8 hours) to visit my soon to be in-laws. My Fiance's sister Sasha is one of my bridesmaids and Mum needed to see her for a dress fitting as she is making the dresses. We also managed to fit in plenty of shopping at Riccarton Mall, Northlands Mall and Dress Smart in Hornby too!
Now I am back in Auckland (Mum had to drive back to Riverton on her own) and back at work...for a couple of days then I get another 4-day weekend and I'm not sure yet how I will fill in my days but I'm sure I will find a way. I'm really enjoying these long summer days and work is reasonably quiet too, so it's also stress-free!
Summer in New Zealand really is the best time of the year - sometimes it gets a bit too hot, but we shouldn't complain about it - we should be thankful for our beautiful sunny summer days and having time to spend with family and friends. I am very thankful to my parents for flying me home and making Christmas 2009 a brilliant one, shared with family and friends. I hope you managed to get time with yours too.
Make sure you enjoy summer, head to the beach, have a bbq, visit friends and family and enjoy great music with Solid Gold FM. Wherever you are remember to slip, slop, slap and wrap and drive safe too.
Happy New Year - I'll write again in 2010 (it'll all be about my wedding then, as it's now only 32 days away!!)
Hayley
If you're looking for a fun game to play with the whole family you have to give Cranium a go. I haven't played it in years so it was fun to get it out at a friends house on Saturday night - we teamed up (my team consisted of me and my fiance Kally) and got stuck in... it was quite clear from the start that my strengths were spelling and guessing what Kally was drawing or making out of play-doh. The best one was when he had to make 'Leaning Tower of Pisa' out of play-do and I had to guess before the egg-timer ran out... it took all of 3 seconds for me to guess what his blob of dough on a lean was! Brilliant, we're on a roll I thought! Charades is also part of the game and one of the ones I had to act out was 'skinny-dipping' so at the start of the timer I started stripping off my clothes, covering my body as if I was naked (I hadn't taken off all my layers don't worry!) and running in the 'water' for a swim... picture it, you'd guess that right? Not my Kally... he said all the right words though like... sexy, hot, good looking etc... but only got skinny-dipping as the timer had just ended!
Despite that, we were very quick to get round the board and only had two tasks left to do to win the game when all of a sudden out of nowhere our opposing team (two guys who had a few drinks between them!) were gaining on us, they now only had 4 tasks to do. Being the only sober person playing I was determined to win - our next challenge, to get us closer to the finish line was a 'GNILLEPS' which is where you have to spell a word backwards... my word was 'Misspell'... I thought "I've got this in the bag!" and preceded to spell L...L...E...P...S...I...M... EEERRR WRONG! I had missed out one of the s's, misspelling the word as it would seem!
I tried to stay calm, thinking we'll get the next round, I'll spell the next word correctly... but the boys had some easy tasks to do, one being making a lawnmower out of play-do so they passed us, got the last task correct and won the game!
What a great way to spend a Saturday night!
Wow, it has been a while since I last blogged hasn't it? What has happened in the world of Hayley in the last few weeks? Well, wedding planning is really coming along - we have our table centrepieces all sorted now (which proved to be a real mission!) and I have come up with a really neat idea for favours and name cards. My bridesmaids have also been busy planning my hen's night (getting it sorted nice and early, good on ya girls!) and I haven't been told much except we will be having a 70s/80s theme with all my girlfriends dressing up as 70s or 80s bridesmaids and yes, me an 80s bride (I can just see it now, big puffy sleeves, a perm and lots of makeup!) Should be a great night.
We went to Christchurch a couple of weeks ago for my (soon to be) father in law's 50th birthday party - what a fun night! There was lots of drinking, a cake with a pair of boobies on it (that his mother made herself!) and even a drag queen stripper... oh yes, I'm not joking! I now have a great insight into what family I'm marrying into and I must say I love it, everyone is lovely and they really know how to have a good time!
This weekend was a relatively quiet one, with my fiance going to Hamilton for the Fight of the Century so I had the house to myself. I had every intention to do 'wedding stuff' but decided to play Beatles: Rock Band instead and haev now perfected all the 'easy' rated songs with both drums and singing at the same time! It is such a fun game, even by yourself!!
Well, I better get going - hope you are enjoying the A to Z of our Music Library.
Hayley
This week has been all about The Beatles.. on Wednesday (09.09.09) my pre-ordered 'Beatles:Rock Band' game arrived and I have had so much fun learning to play drums like Ringo (My fiance Kally has claimed guitar)... it comes with 45 songs you play along with (drums, guitar and sing) and has kept us entertained for many many hours so far and I'm sure plenty more to come! The boys at work are keen for me to bring it into work for our next staff meeting so we can all 'jam' together...who will be who? Macca could be Paul 'Macca' McCartney, Blackie would make a good John Lennon and I think Muzza would be a good Ringo! I''ll guess we'll see who has all the talent in the team next week when we play it.
We also just today bought some copies of the new digitally remastered Beatles albums so we can play them on air for you to enjoy and I tell you what...the songs sound AMAZING! As soon as we got back in the car we put on Hey Jude (at my request) and I even had a tear in my eye listening to it - it was like hearing it for the first time, everything sounds so separate and the percussion is outstanding. Revolution came on next (we had on one of the Past Masters albums) and the guitar work was sensational! It's obvious when listening to these songs, we are now hearing them how The Beatles wanted us to hear them back when they first recorded them but the technology back then wouldn't allow it. How exciting for Paul, Ringo and Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono to hear these songs in stereo, all digitally remastered - they must be loving it (and the money they will be making from them!!)
Other than that I've been keeping busy with wedding planning - in the last month I have managed to tick off HEAPS on the 'planning checklist' and looking forward to 10 days at home in Southland in October to get some serious planning done and meet with everybody from the venue to photographer and celebrant plus get my dress fitted! It's all happening and only 4 months away now!!
Have a great weekend and enjoy the Beatles Brunch this Sunday.. you'll hear all new STEREO digitally remastered Beatles songs for a full hour from 9am! Enjoy
Hayley
Sad to see our friend Adam finish up at Solid Gold on Monday... I've only known Adam since November but he has been a great friend and lots of fun in the office too! We've had many laughs together, song along to many songs together and had some deep and meaningfuls too... Adam will be missed around the office by all of us but he has some exciting plans for the next chapter in his life so we wish him all the best!
I am really looking forward to getting our Beatles 9-2-5 Game underway on Monday - good luck! I also can't wait to 09.09.09 for the worldwide release of The Beatles boxed set AND The Beatles: Rock Band game which I have pre-ordered! So come the 9th September I will be strumming away on my pretend guitar, playing my Beatles drums and singing along to Hey Jude (I hope the game has Hey Jude, it's my favourite Beatles song as you know!)
I tried the new 'Angus Pure Beef' burger at McDonalds today - I got the 'Mighty Angus' and it was amazing! Everything about the burger from the bun to the cheese to the HUGE beef pattie, it was delicious! I recommend trying one, it was a taste sensation!!
I hope you have a great weekend - enjoy the sunshine if you are getting sun already - bring on Spring!!
Hayley
Well, I have had a week or so off work to enjoy some time with my Mum who came up to Auckland from Southland for a visit... we also went to Christchurch for a couple of days together there (got a LOT of shopping done!). We spent the week wedding planning and shopping and got a lot of things sorted out, including mums 'mother of the bride' outfit which looks lovely!
I'm back at work now and right into it, we are getting very busy at the moment with lots of competitions, prizes, events, promotions and new features... I'm really enjoying playing along with our new 'Time Tunnel', trying to guess the year... just today I had decided it was 1971... but it was 1970 so I was close enough! Have a go... listen from 9am weekdays with Macca for 12 songs in a row from the same year.. if you can guess what year they were all released call us or text us and you could win! We have 'Simply The Best Fifties' on CD this week.
I went to Cirque Du Soleil 'Dralion' on Saturday night - was an amazing show, they are all so talented and at times a little freaky with the way they can bend and twist their bodies - I was feeling very inadequate at the end of the night! Was a great night out with a few others from work too and we caught up with some friends from Wellington who happened to be up for the show that night too so that was great. If you haven't seen 'Dralion' yet and you can get to the show in Auckland, what are you waiting for?! Get tickets, you won't be dissapointed.
Well, that is about it for me today - my hair straighteners stopped working in the weekend so I'm off to buy a new pair before people see how BIG my hair really is!!
Have a great week,
Hayley
It was baking day on Sunday - my fiance and I went all out and made lolly cake, moro/rice bubble square, strawberry cupcakes (complete with sprinkles) and chocolate chippie biscuits (or as my family recipe calls them 'kiwi biscuits'). We ended up with so much baking at home we decided to feed the boys at work - I was definitely popular on Monday!
I have wedding-brain at the moment and can't stop thinking about different things I need to organise...My mum also has wedding-brain and has been on the phone or email constantly with different ideas for bridesmaid dresses or something she saw on the internet that I should get... it is so much fun! Only 6 months to go now so it is getting much closer now (considering we have been engaged for over a year and a half already!). Mum is visiting us next week for a few days so we'll get lots of things organised while she is here, including (hopefully) a lovely Mother of the Bride outfit for her... that's her plan anyway!
If you are on facebook and aren't yet a member of our facebook group add us! Search for 'Solid Gold FM' and join the group. We keep it updated with what is happening on the station and you can message us anytime! I'm quite addicted to facebook at the moment - it's such a great way to keep in touch with friends and family, I particularly like looking at my cousin's baby photos. My cousin Karla who lives in Australia has a gorgeous new baby girl and a friend of hers is a photographer so has been taking the most amazing photos of her which I love looking at on Facebook. Kids of my own are still a few years off yet, I'm sure, so I love getting all clucky over other peoples babies!
I'm off to a preview of 'Public Enemies' movie today so will write again soon with my review of it, although I'm sure I will love it as it looks fantastic and it stars the gorgeous Johnny Depp! Enough said!
Take care, Hayley
The most exciting thing for me over the past week was buying a brand new mattress! We have had the same one for the last five years and it was a cheap one we got with the bed package at the time so it was definitely time to upgrade! I'm sure springs were about to pop out and hit me in the face in the middle of the night... but not anymore! On Saturday my fiance Kally and I went to about 10 bed stores (luckily they were all within 100 metres of each other) and lay on about 1000 beds to test them out...we almost fell asleep in one so figured it was the one for us! We got a great deal on the floor model (last one in stock) and it arrived yesterday... needless to say had a great sleep - it was like sleeping on puffy clouds!
We also went to see 'The Hangover' at the movies and it was hilarious! Such a great movie about four guys who go to Vegas for a stag night and wake up not remembering what happened to them and wondering why there is a tiger and a baby in their hotel room... the movie slowly shows you what happened the night before as they trace their steps...such a great idea for a movie and really good for a laugh. I hear there are plans for a sequel - can't wait!
Hope you have a great week and remember our Listener Check Up is online now where you can give us feedback on the station - we appreciate your feedback :)
Hayley
Did you have a good weekend? I certainly had a busy one - I had all these good intentions of dusting, vacuuming, baking and changing bed sheets but most of that went out the window because I was kept so busy! Not that I'm complaining haha
We went to a shopping mall on Saturday to look for gifts for friends of ours and while we were there we decided to see Bruno - the latest character film from Sacha Baron Cohen - which was quite funny! I say 'quite' because in my opinion it was nowhere near as good as 'Borat' but still a great film. He certainly got himself into some crazy and dangerous situations. Word of advice - if you are easily offended (lots of full frontal male nudity) don't see this movie!
What else did we do this weekend? We went to visit some new friends of ours while they were house sitting at a gorgeous house with a HUGE TV! They had booked UFC 100, a pay per view event from the Ultimate Fighting Championship which I'm not normally a fan of but it was actually a great 3 hours...lots of good fights (heaps of blood and swollen faces which was a bit grosse) and saw Brock Lesnar retain his title.
I also managed to eat more than my fair share of a cheese/crackers/fruit/nuts tray I made up for the afternoon... I think I had a bit too much camembert because I felt a bit sick afterwards!
It was great to get out of the house over the weekend (not the usual sort of weekend for us) but now I have a backlog of washing to get through!
Hope you're enjoying the countdown - all this week we are counting down the Top 500 Hits of the 60s. It certainly has been great to hear songs I haven't heard in a while like Cliff Richard Summer Holiday!
Have a great week,
x Hayley
I've been playing Nurse the last few days... my fiance woke up on Saturday morning with a fever, sore muscles and general 'flu symptoms' so I immediately think "SWINE FLU" and rush him to the emergency doctor (we still haven't found ourselves a 'family doctor' in Auckland yet) where he was given a face mask to put on (he looked great, kind of like 'McDreamy' haha!) and was told to take it off by the doctor as soon as she found out he hadn't been to the states or Mexico lately.. and that is how they ruled out Swine Flu. Seriously, I thought there would have been blood tests or something but no, one simple question about travelling to the states or Mexico and ruled it out just like that! So, he has the normal flu, which is still bad so was told bed rest is the key to kicking it and gave him some nurofen for the pain. Well, 4 days later he is still in bed, still has hot and cold flushes and I'm still getting everything and anything he needs for him (perhaps he is faking it now so I will wait on him?!). No, I really beleive he is sick because he would be up and about if he could - he was supposed to start a new job on Monday and we also have his Dad and younger sister up visiting from Christchurch who he hasn't been able to see since Friday night and they leave again on Thursday so hopefully he will be able to get some time in with them tomorrow.
Last Friday night was lots of fun - we went to the WWE RAW show in Auckland (yep, a bit of a wrestling fan!) and was great to see the Vector practically sold out for the event. Even better to see Triple H, John Cena, Kofi Kingston, The Big Show, Randy Orton, Santino Mirella, Hornswoggle, The Miz, Mickie James and all the rest of the wrestlers.
Well best be going now - enjoy the rest of the week and remember to vote for your favourite 60s song with our Top 500 Hits of the 60s Countdown. We start counting them down from 9am next Monday.
x Hayley
Michael Jackson passed away today at the age of 50. I still can't really believe it. I'm one of those people who get really sad when a celebrity dies, like they are a part of my family or something.
This has got me thinking of previous 'celebrity' deaths that have happened in my lifetime - I remember when Princess Diana died in 1997 (I was 14), my Mum was really upset because she was a huge 'fan' of hers and I was really upset too. We followed the news coverage for weeks and watched the funeral service on TV.
I was also visibly sad when Steve Irwin passed away a few years ago. I had seen Steve Irwin a few years prior in Australia at Australia Zoo so I was quite shaken by the shocking news of his death and cried for him and his family. Today, I feel sad that the musical genius that was Michael Jackson has passed away and particularly feel for his children who are still so young and this will be particularly hard on them. But the music of Michael Jackson will live on, just like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, John Lennon and many other music legends who have gone before him.
I hope you have a great weekend
Hayley
Solid Gold is now on facebook! I have created a group page for us on facebook with updates on upcoming competitions and events, photos and more... if you have a facebook profile search for Solid Gold FM and join our group.
I have been busy lately helping get everything ready for the Top 500 Hits of the 60s Countdown - from next Monday 29th June you will be able to vote online here for your favourite songs from the 1960s (you get to choose up to 10 songs) and once all the voted have been collated and the list has been compiled we'll count them down for you... I can't help but wonder if The Beatles Hey Jude will make #1 again (remember we did the 1000 Greatest Hits of the 60s and 70s countdown earlier this year and it was #1?) - I guess we'll find out!
After a miserablew weight loss (actually I put on 100grams) last Wednesday I have been working really hard this week to get back on track and have really stuck to my programme. I do feel heaps better and have noticed a change in my tummy shape (it doesn't seem to be dissapearing fast but its 'changing shape'!!) Next weigh in is tomorrow afternoon - I'll give you an update on how I go.
Tonight I'm off to a movie preview for Transformers 2 - I cant wait to see this blockbuster film, I absolutely loved the first one and the trailer for this one looks amazing! I also recently saw Land of the Lost (it was OK) and The Proposal (was great) so it's been a real movie week for me!
Got some good news at the end of last week - my fiance got himself a great new job in Auckland (he has been commuting every day to Hamilton for work since we moved up to Auckland) so we are both really happy about that and looking forward to him getting into it!
Have a fantastic week!
Hayley
Ok so the first thing I need to say is I was a little too optimistic last time I blogged hoping for 1.5kg weight loss that week.. well last Wednesday I had my weekly weigh in at Sureslim and had lost 800grams which I am more than happy with (it's not 1.5kg but a loss is a loss!) So the weight loss journey continues... around 7kgs to go till goal weight.
My fiance and I went to see Xmen Origins: Wolverine at the movies in the weekend and it was amazing! Hugh Jackman was great and the story really helped piece it all together for me as I have never read the comics so wasn't sure how it all began. The movie also features all the hot actors from Mcleods Daughters including Aaron Jeffreys in one of the opening scenes. Go see it if you can!
Big Wednesday tomorrow - the biggest jackpot ever with $25 million plus all the luxury prizes... seriously how good would it be to win that? I wouldn't know what to do with myself! I don't normally buy Big Wednesday or Lotto tickets but one can't resist the opportunity to win all that money!
Next week we have some exciting news for all your sixties music fans - keep an eye on this site for details from Monday!
Hope you enjoy the rest of the week and remember to register online for the Solid Gold VIP Club while you're here.
Hayley
I can't even begin to explain how much I love the movie The Boat That Rocked and now we are bringing you the music from the movie all this weekend, it's going to be a great weekend! If you missed the movie on the big screen, I recommend getting the dvd when it comes out (hopefully soon?). My favourite songs from the movie would have to be Elenore from The Turtles and A Whiter Shade of Pale from Procol Harum. Hope you enjoy the weekend and good luck at winning a copy of the soundtrack too!
This weekend my fiance Kally and I are hoping to listen to a lot of music and choose songs for our wedding so that will be fun and another thing to cross off the list of things to do!
and finally, to keep you up to date with my weight loss mission, I have now got 8.6kg to go until I hit my goal of 70kg (and when I'll be able to fit my already purchased wedding dress!) Goal this week is 1.5kg loss - we'll find out on Wednesday!
Have a great weekend
Hayley
My best friend Kate, who lives in Brisbane, came over for a weekend to visit (I know, a weekend - very extravagant!) which was really nice so I showed her the sights of Auckland as she hadn't been here before. We got plenty of shopping done and ate lots of yummy food! We went out for tea one night to the Mexican Cafe which is this great place opposite the Sky Tower, they have amazing food and amazing margaritas! The best part about having her over was to go over wedding stuff with her - she is my maid of honour so it's nice to have her help with things and the long distance between here and Brisbane doesn't make it too easy! We went looking for shoes for the wedding but have decided to wait until Spring/Summer again as the selection wasn't great. The weekend went too fast and now life is back to normal for me! I'm all back on track with my sureslim programme (goal is to lose 12kg in 12weeks and so far have lost 3kg in 3 weeks so on track!). I just keep reminding myself I have a wedding dress to fit and that seems to help keep me away from the fridge!
We've got some great prizes coming up for you next week - the DVD of the Week 'Jerry Lee Lewis and Friends' looks great (I love Jerry!) and we also have tickets for Billy Ocean concerts and more Pizza Hut Tuscani Pasta vouchers to be won too. Delicious.
Enjoy your long Queens Birthday weekend whatever you may be doing - we have our Hall of Fame Weekend for you to sing along so that will be great!
ta ta for now... te te for then (something Tigger would say)

Just got back from a weekend away in Christchurch with Muzza and Vaughan (our boss at Solid Gold) and had a great time! We went down for Rockonz, the festival of Rock n Retro music which we were a sponsor of. Muzza did a great job of MC'ing the Hall of Fame awards dinner (Solid Gold received an award for services to the industry so that was pretty exciting!) and also on Saturday night there was a big concert held in the Town Hall with heaps of local rock n roll legends aswell as Frankie Stevens, The Beat Girls and Shane Cortese and the Class of 58. It was great to see so many rock n rollers up and dancing all night long and even better to see the huge turnout - 60s and 70s music will always be popular!
While I was in Christchurch I took some time to wander around the Cathedral Square, the Avon River and the main shopping area around town. Having previously lived in Christchurch in 2002/2003 I was surprised how much the town has changed... they are now putting in tram tracks through the Cashel Street Mall which is a great idea and the amount of street magicians, entertainers and buskers seems to have increased... I had forgotten just how 'arty' and cultural Christchurch is! The weather was great, the entertainment was perfect and it was also an opportunity to visit my soon to be mother-in-law who lives there.
That reminds me, I should start blogging about my wedding planning... My fiance, Kally, and I are getting married January 30th 2010 (we've been engaged since December 2007) and plans are really starting to fall into place now. Our big thing we are working on at the moment is the guest list and invitations...such a hard task (it was easier to find my wedding dress which I have had for over a year already now!). Dance lessons will be the next thing - I'll keep you posted on how that goes!
Until next time... Hayley
