It’s even better when it’s Grandma and Grandpa who are suggesting the holiday and booking time out for everyone in the Edgewater Resort & Spa’s fresh, lush, Rarotongan surroundings.
The Edgewater Resort & Spa has been delivering resort holidays for more than 40 years. Now, an increasing number of holidaymakers in their 50s, 60s and 70s have taken the initiative of bringing their extended families to the tropical waters of Rarotonga where all the comforts of home are on hand.
Visitors have the benefit of using New Zealand currency and now the 65+_ travelers can use their SuperGold card at the resort for accommodation upgrades and great discounts on resort products and services, from spa treatments to candle-lit dinners.
The Edgewater’s three-bedroom villas offer either garden or beachfront views plus, there are eight other room types all with private decks to match your needs. Some families happily fill multiple villas to capacity; others divide themselves between a villa for the family and a beachfront deluxe apartment for the grandparents.
Whether it’s an eight minute bus ride into the capital of Avarua, a three minute drive to the local golf course, or daily activities within the resort, there are plenty of activities to participate in. The Coconut Kids Club for youngsters (4-12 years) includes Rarotongan craft, crab hunting adventures and the chance to experience local culture, dance and customs. It has enticed a few grandparents too! The club’s evening activities also allow adults time to dine out in one of the resort’s two delicious restaurants.
Being only a 3 ½ hour flight away (and 22 hours behind in time), it’s a chance for three-generations to reconfirm family life together.
