Being over 50 does have its pluses, and strangely enough - they way out-number the minus. Wellllllllllllllll. We can eye up the young waiter and bat our eye lashes and get away with it!
We also have memories and experiences, something the young haven't collected yet. Of course no-one wants to hear about our memories, untill we are dead that is. Suddenly our kids want to know all about WHO we were.
We know from experience that these questions should have been asked much earlier. But our kids aren't interested in our Experiences. Well, it doesnt apply to them. They are young with their whole lives ahead of them and we come from the dinosaur age.
Anyway: The young need to experience things for themselves. We would be robbing them of something if life was passed down and not experienced.
Humans also make mistakes. If we didnt, we wouldn't be human. Learning from those mistakes is what is important, and makes us stronger.
We all have skeletons in the cupboard too. Sometimes they are best left there.
Most of us have regrets. I have many. But everything I have done, has led me to where I am now. It was a path I had to follow. I like it HERE.
My biggest regret was forgetting how to laugh. You know, that belly aching laugh that makes your sides hurt. Somewhere along the way I had children and became responsible. I still laughed. But it was that responsible laugh.
But then I met a group of *GrownUps*. Responsibilty flew out of the window. I now laugh so much my sides hurt. I love these wonderful people from all over New Zealand. Some I will never meet except in the chat room - others I meet for coffee - *The mad hatters tea party* - they are all my new freinds. I have never had so many friends or done so much socializing nor laughed so much.
So: *THANKYOU* Richard and your staff on GrownUps - for making this all possible.
Yahoooooo!!! For the oldies.
