HealthCare NZ highlights real life situations where they have supported people with their health needs to continue living happily and independently in their own homes.
Home truly is where our heart is. It’s cosy, comfortable and full of memories; that special place where we can relax and be ourselves. There’s nowhere in the world quite like it. The good news is that staying in your own home has never been easier!
Today, a growing number of New Zealanders are choosing to live and age at home, connected to their family, friends, favourite activities and community. They are able to do so with the high-quality assistance of HealthCare NZ, a home-based support provider.
The wide range of specialist services and packages of care available mean that you can stay in your home whatever your level of need.
Mr Wilson (68) wanted to go on short tramps again but needed to build up his stamina.
“My support worker gave me the help I needed. We started out with walks around my home and then moved onto longer walks. Eventually, I was able to do an hour-long hike with my friends again.”
Mrs O’Reilly (76) had a fall before she was due to go to her granddaughter’s wedding. She wanted to be able to stand for the photos without her walking stick.
“My support worker helped me to regain my balance. She suggested Tai Chi classes and supported me to do some exercises at home that helped me feel confident standing on my own. I’m really pleased that I’ll be able to stand next to my beautiful granddaughter for the photos.”
