Disaster

I read an article in the newspaper recently which said this:

"The newspapers are always predicting gloom and doom. Not too long ago, there were complaints about bird flu. Before that there were complaints about Y2K. Now they are talking about global warming. All of those complaints claim we are doomed."

Maybe global warmng is serious. Many scientists say so and Al Gore made a very serous movie about it called "An Inconvenient Truth". I am not a scientist. I cannot tell whether global warming is a real problem.But given the fact that I was not harmed by any of the other problems I was warned about, can you blame me for being skeptical? In fact with cold New Zealand weather and snow storms in the Northern hemisphere, that skepticism seems valid.

Al Gore says that the one weapon he has on his side it truth. Never mind global warming, the weather in New Zealand, where I live has been cold. Maybe that is a product of global warming. Not being a scientist, I have no way of knowing.

What I know is that I have never been injured. But, when I read about other parts of the world, I see reports of millions killed. So maybe I am just lucky to have been born in the United States and I chose well when I chose to move to New Zealand.
