boy searchThe school holidays are upon us, and many parers and grandparents are wracking their brains for constructive, cost effective activities for the little darlings in our lives.

Geocaching is part detective work, part exploring and part geography. There are over two million geocaches worldwide; little collections of trinkets to be found in obscure places. Once you find them, you can swap the trinkets for something else, or just sign your name on the attached list to show you were there and move on.

To get started, download the Geocache app on your smartphone and check what caches are in your location. They can be as tiny as a matchbox under a park bench, or something more substantial.

The fun is in the search, and the feeling that your are part of a secret club. It encourages exercise and curiosity and doesn’t cost a thing.

If you are at a loss as to what to do one day these holidays, why not download the free app and get started? You never know what little treasures are lurking in your neighbourhood and what you will learn along the way!
