Recently I purchased a second hand set of grey coloured wheel covers for $17 and found that three of them had minor surface scratches where the previous owner had hit the curb.
I had a left over tin of aerosol spray of grey "scratch filler primer" and proceeded to sand down and spray several light coats over the wheel covers.
It was a cold day so I used my 250W lamp to raise the air temperature and warm the aerosol spray can before spraying.
All but the deep scratches have dissappeared and after a final coat of silver we have a brand new looking set of wheel covers.
