Last month saw Auckland Harbourmaster John Lee Richards and his team receive new arsenal, in the form of a brand new Rayglass protector 8.5m vessel repowered with two DF150 Suzuki outboard engines.
The new Rayglass protector and Suzuki engines will replace the old protector (one of the first ever made 10 years ago) and will see Auckland region's harbourmaster John Lee Richards go about his business in a better performing boat.
The Suzuki DF150 four-stroke was the outboard of choice for its deliverance of high-end power in a compact and lightweight designed engine, replacing the old technology two strokes with the super efficient Suzuki Four Strokes technology.
With the largest powerhead in their class, the DF150 offers big block performance and the largest displacement available; delivering first-rate performance.
Recognised for their advanced technology, top performance and high customer satisfaction, Suzuki outboards are currently distributed through a dealer network across Australia and New Zealand established by The Haines Group, Australia’s largest and most awarded fiberglass trailer boat manufacturer.
The Haines Group New Zealand Manager Craig Archer said Suzuki’s proven reliability, superior performance and outstanding fuel efficiency has led to numerous government and tourism organisations throughout Australasia opting for Suzuki as their power of choice.
The Suzuki DF150 is ideally suited to the role of powering the Auckland Harbourmaster’s Rayglass protector as it will run up many hours each year at a considerable fuel saving over the old vessel.
Mr Lee Richards' brief includes the navigational safety of boaties, oil pollution response and enforcement of maritime rules and bylaws as well as overseeing and controlling the movement, mooring, anchoring and navigation of any vessel in the Auckland region.
Mr Lee Richard’s jurisdiction stretches from Mangawhai to Kaiaua, including Little Barrier and Great Barrier Islands on the east coast and from Kaipara Harbour to Karioitahi Beach on the west.
