Making the mental shift into retirement accommodation is one thing. Shifting a lifetime of precious furniture and personal effects is another, and that is where Tony Kenrick’s team at AA Auckland Carriers Ltd come in with their paper, boxes, protective wrap and made-to-measure 10 to 60m3 trucks.

But loading and unloading the truck is only part of the story that began 30 years ago and which now sees AA Auckland Carriers shift 8,000 to 10,000 households throughout the country from their depots in West Auckland and Christchurch from their fleet of 23 trucks.

Much of their repeat business and referrals includes the elderly downsizing and that requires extra care and consideration that might mean staying a little longer to make sure the China cabinet is in exactly the right place, says Tony Kenrick, the company’s general manager.














Among the company’s services is a package they call ‘load’ – loading, shifting and unloading only. The ‘pack’ service can be a part or full-house pack. The ‘unpack’ service brings in staff to unpack ‘to the bench’ for you to put items away. Specialist unpackers can be contracted to set up your new home right down to putting the china in the cabinet, linen in the cupboard and your reading glasses where you like them to live.

For those who prefer to drive off and leave the past behind, his team will clean your empty house. Goods can also be packed for storage in secure, individual off-site storage units.

AA Auckland Carrier’s 60-strong team includes owner/drivers, several of whom have been with the company for 18 years as well as permanent casual staff, says Tony.
