It was a good day for fishing so decided to take my 2 children (5 and 7) out in our 20ft cabin boat for a spot of fishing. We cruised down the Boulder Bank to Mackeys Bluff and dropped the anchor. Not much happened for a while but suddenly my rod started going crazy. The line took off and a huge stingray lept out of the water about 50 metres away with the line hanging from its mouth. I told the kids to get into the cabin and proceeded to fight it till it got to the side. With an enormous effort I managed to get it straddled over the cabin top. Now this cabin is about 2.5 metres wide and its wings were hanging into the water so I estimated it to be about 3 - 3.5 metres across. As I clambered into the cabin, I got a searing pain where it whipped its tail across my back. I immediately radioed the hospital to have an ambulance waiting at the marina because I knew I had been barbed. I was chased down the harbour by the pilot boat for exceeding the speed limit but I wasn't stopping for them. I had more important things to worry about because I was starting to feel woozy and as I got to the marina, I woke up. It was all a vivid dream.
