She was only a lamb
At the side of the road
All alone with eyes open wide
We stopped the car and took her inside.
Her tiny wee frame
Was a joy to behold
Totally perfect
And a heart of gold.
We fed her and loved her
For two days and a half
This morning I cradled her
as she died in my arms.
We buried her softly
With flowers at her head
No cold or pain will hurt her there
Only our tears show that we care.
She was only a lamb
At the side of the road
But into my heart that wee Button came
There she will stay and always remain.
