Saved by an Angel

This story is one my father has told us many times & is quite unusual. He was in the British Air Force during the end of the war years & was on the ground crew, one of his jobs was to direct the night flights in to land using batons & torches.

One night while directing in a plane, unknown to him another plane had come in behind & was coming towards him as well as the one he was guiding in, if he had continued going backwards he would have walked into the plane's propellers behind, when suddenly another airman pulled him out of the way, just in time.

Due to the noise etc he was unable to thank the man & had to continue with the job at hand. When he got to knock off for some supper he went to the mess & asked about the airman who had saved his life, no one knew who he was talking about & all denied having been out there.

To this day Dad has no idea who it was that saved him that night, & now believes it was an angel. Who knows......
