Juice TV presenter Per Bojsen-Moller models some luxury trinkets in the September Metro. He tells us about his Auckland.
1) Favourite Auckland place?
Muriwai. I used to live there and love the wide open space of the beach, all the walks up and down the coast, and the gannet colony. You can learn a lot by working as little as possible and watching gannets every day. At least, I hope you can.
2) What do you love most about living in Auckland?
I love the fact that it's a big enough city to make living in a remote country seem like it's not so remote. And we have some of the finest car park buildings in the southern hemisphere.
3) What do you hate most about living in Auckland?
Probably the architecture and the way the inner city has spawned cheap apartment buildings knocked together by property developers with no aesthetic foresight. Why? Because they look bad.
4) If you could change one thing about the city, what would it be?
The immigration of more Mexicans willing to start up taquerias so we can have some decent Mexican food. I'm sick of eating kebabs on a hangover.
5) Coromandel or north for a holiday?
I'm pretty easy, really. They're both bloody lovely. I'm no nature snob.
6) Ponsonby Rd or Viaduct?
Ponsonby Rd. Despite it looking all pretty with the boats and the water, I still associate the Viaduct with the Loaded Hog and the America's Cup - two things I could care less about.
7) Your favourite Aucklander?
Probably Margaret on K Rd. Wherever you go around the world you can always come back and be sure to see her. It's nice to have some constant characters in a city.
8) Favourite restaurant?
Satya on K Rd - it's all about the food. Though, if my Mexican immigration wish comes true, that would quickly change to a small taqueria.
9) What's your drink?
Beerscotchwinevodkajagerchampagnebeerbeerbeerjagerjager.
Because I'm a discerning gentleman at all times.
10) Best place for coffee?
Savour & Devour in Grey Lynn. I used to work there, lived down the road. The owners were the best bosses I ever had. The coffee is also damn good.
