Kay Douglas is a psychotherapist and the author of four self help books: Invisible Wounds, Power Games, Living Life Out Loud and Challenged by Childhood.
After many years working with people as a social worker, group facilitator, counsellor and psychotherapist, Kay was well aware of the challenges people faced. She decided to create her website Self-help Online to meet a need for a comprehensive New Zealand-based resource that could offer information and inspiration to people seeking to improve their health and wellbeing.
Self-help Online includes an online bookshop of quality self-help books, a directory of counsellors, life coaches and natural health practitioners, links to community organisations who offer help, personal stories, poems, competitions and articles and video clips about health, personal development, nutrition, relationships, green living and more.
Kay also sends out inspiring Warm Fuzzy messages by email each day to subscribers. She writes these herself and they come accompanied by photos featuring New Zealand's wonderful scenery. Kay says, 'I receive so much wonderful feedback about my Warm Fuzzy messages. They just seem to connect with people and help to brighten their day. Deciding to write them was an inspired idea that's brought me lots of pleasure.'
Kay is passionate about self-development, her family and friends, good news stories and New Zealand. She lives in a quiet spot on Auckland’s North Shore with a beautiful bush outlook and has a home-based counselling and psychotherapy private practice with her partner John.
