We recently lost our 13 year old granddaughter to suicide and as I wasn't dealing with the loss very well at all. I decided I need to do something to occupy my free time and my mind. We had been planning to build a bird aviary a bit later in the year when finances allowed but I just decided to bring that plan forward and do it now so it was into Bunnings to order the required timber and other materials and with my limited knowledge and tools I got started. After three weeks I now have a single flight aviary, 1.2 metres wide by 1.8 metres long and 1.8 metres high and are starting to get breeding birds to put in it. I found the exercise both excellent therapy and having done it myself very satisfying. I also find going out to the birds is good therapy in itself.
