Over the last couple of years I have had trouble with my tomatoe plants with the tips of the leaves showing a purple tinge and curling up. Also the flowers not setting and falling off, quite often only two or three fruit setting out of a dozen or so flowers. A friend who grows potatoes regularly has had the problem discussed in the article on Potatoes.Real good tops on the plants and nothing underneath.
There is a pest called PSYLLID which attacks Tomatoes & Potatoes, could be the problem and there is a comprehnsive article on the web at site This is well worthwhile looking at, and reading.
All the best
