Foodlovers.co.nz has a wide range of delectable Asian Pork Recipes that are economical and easy to prepare. Here is one of my favourites:
San Choy Bau
Ingredients
1 Iceberg lettuce
1-2 tablespoons Peanut oil
500 g Pork mince
2 Cloves garlic
2 teaspoons Grated ginger
1 Red capsicum, diced
1 tablespoon Rice wine
1 tablespoon Soy sauce
1 tablespoon Sweet chilli sauce
1 – 2 cups Bean sprouts
¼ cup Chopped mint, basil & coriander
Method
Wash and dry lettuce leaves and refrigerate until needed. Heat the oil in a wok or frying pan and brown the pork. Add the garlic, ginger, carrot, capsicum, rice wine and soy. Cook for 5 minutes until capsicum is just tender. Add bean sprouts and toss to combine. Spoon into lettuce leaves and sprinkle with herbs.
This winter, why not try throwing an Asian inspired Dinner party? You could ask guests to contribute one dish each. For an entrée select satay vegetable kebabs and Char Siew Bao – (steamed pork buns) with Asian Style Braised Pork Belly as the main. Serve your main with a selection of sides - Asian greens including bok choy seasoned with sesame oil, sea salt and pepper, sticky rice and crispy stir-fried vegetables with a sweet and sour sauce.
