It happened in my childhood days the story I am about to tell.
My age is 72 now so it's going back a spell.
We were playing in a sandpit my 2 brothers and I,
My family were not well off,so toys they could not buy.
We had dug a great big tunnel, having so much fun,but my brother had seen the danger
And told us both to run,
Too late for our poor Albert, he was coverd beneath the sand,
I ran and called some workmen to give a helping hand
They got one out crying wondering what to do
It was then we saw the shoe.
I know they belong to Albert ,as I had worn them when they where new,
Lots of people were digging as the time was passing fast
Then they found our, Albert and got him out at last,
Our dad was upon the scene looking so distressed
he drove our Albert to the Hospital wearing just his vest,
We all sat up late that night saying how nice it was to have a friend,
And thinking about our Albert and how it was nearly his end,
I said my prays that night it was not often that I did,
I said thank you God for saving our Albert because he is only just a kid
Our Albert lived a good life with a little helping hand,
but when he died and they open him up they found him full of sand.
