My daughter's youngest son looks like an angel but has been the most fractious, whining, wailing and generally noisy (ear-plugs please!) wee toddler on the planet. Mind you, he had never had a hair cut. With flowing, wavy blonde locks my daughter has been loathe to give them the chop and, indeed, whenever she has slightly weakened he has wailed up a storm even at the entrance of a hairdresser's.
The last time she visited me with all 3 wee chappies, this little monkey had his hair in a ponytail. A ponytail! I spoke sternly to my daughter and she, in turn, dealt fairly sternly with toddler son.
On a recent holiday in Australia she managed to get him into a barber's chair for a short back and sides. And, you would not believe the change that has come over that wee boy. He is better behaved, whinges far less, clings to mum's legs far less, and is generally better behaved and more of a joy in our lives.
I call it the "Samson and Delilah" effect !
