When life dubbed us 'be children',
There was laughter in the glen,
Our excited crys of discovery,
Sure t'was music then.
We learned to love the insects,
And the flowers in the vale,
In innocence I would be your knight,
Our love would never fail.
So soon we grew to teen age,
Which destroyed our childhood plan,
You grew away from me my love,
Because you found a 'better man'.
At first it seemed he loved you,
Then for you both the love grew cold,
The drink and drugs buried you both,
But your memory I still hold.
Sometimes when I'm in sorrow,
I search for you in the glen,
And though the leaves have fallen,
I hear your laughter now and then.
