We all deserve to be happy.
I think we all agree on that one! But do we treat ourselves the way we deserve to be treated? Do you look after yourself knowing that you are important? Do you know that if you take good care of yourself, everyone around you will benefit? Are you being kind to yourself? What do you do on a regular basis that makes you smile and makes you feel as valuable as you really are?
We’d love to hear your contributions to support other people in being kind to themselves – what do you do that makes you smile?

Response from Anne:
There was a time in my life when I was a single parent and I was unhappy. I loved my children and saw that my unhappiness was affecting them. I decided that wasn’t fair so I made a pledge with myself that everyday I would do something to make them laugh. I did all kinds of silly things. Sometimes I tried to tell them a joke – and it didn’t work properly – that made them laugh. Just acting silly made them laugh and once on a hot day I had taken my shoes off and my feet were hot and sticky and sort of “stuck” to the floor as I walked around the kitchen. You know that sound! So I started to do something like an imbecile doing a tap dance – and they thought I was nuts – but they laughed. This little effort of making my kids laugh has become a habit. Now I find that if I’ve had a rough day, if I have something on my mind, if I haven’t made them laugh – they remind me – and they do something silly to make me laugh. This means that we all smile, every day!
Response from Anne:
When I shower in the morning I really make a ritual of shampooing my hair – I lather it up and give myself a head massage! It’s great – it’s not a chore – it’s a pleasure and is a great start to the day!
Response from Anne:
I have a wee dog. I love her. She sleeps on the bed with me and every night before I sleep I give her a head massage. It is not only soothing for her – but it slows me down ready for a good night’s sleep. It brings a smile to my face when I see her little eyes rolling around in her head!
