MTA Gift Vouchers - A Great Gift For Anytime

Thanks

Thank you to those Grownups members who gave feedback regarding MTA Gift Vouchers.  All comments are greatly appreciated and are used to help us continue to adapt and make things easier for our customers.  Congratulations to the winner of the feedback draw; Mary Monk of Hamilton.

Colleen Keegan, MTA Gift Voucher Manager

A Familiar Face... Remember These

Over time all of us develop a familiarity with certain products or services. As someone once said, we all have our ‘markers’ in life, and these markers can range from people to places, and for many of us actual products or brands.  It could be the first of a particular type that you ever used; perhaps that a friend or parent recommended, or maybe it’s just something that always seems to have been there.

One such product that fits this mould are MTA’s Gift Vouchers.  Probably more commonly known as petrol vouchers, this handy product was launched over 40 years ago.  Since then many millions of these paper vouchers, which it must be said, nowadays bear an uncanny resemblance to actual cash, have passed through the hands of New Zealanders.

While versatility is a well used phrase these days, there’s probably nothing better to describe these Vouchers.  As a nation that’s constantly on the move, it’s not surprising that they’ve become so popular. They are accepted at around 4000 MTA member businesses across the country for anything from repairs, WoF’s, groceries, spare parts, food and drinks and of course fuel. And, like their cash equivalents, are available in $10, $20 and $50 denominations. Best of all though, in what seems to be an increasingly rare deal for customers these days, there’s no expiry date.

Whether it’s friends, family or even business; a make-good  favour, repaying someone in a practical or meaningful way or as a means to provide for that big trip away at Christmas, even after 40 years MTA Gift Vouchers are still providing a familiar and helpful face to New Zealand motorists.

They can be purchased from a whole host of MTA members across the country, and if you’re in any doubt about where to get them you can simply go to the MTA website and find out who your closest stockist is.  Alternatively, if you’re reading this, then you might find it just as easy to buy them online from the same website.

by papdog 20th October 2009 This vouchers are just brilliant for the person who is hard to buy for and those long holidays. One year I brought them all year for a long holiday and when it came time for the trip-no problem going away for the 5 week holiday. I always buy them at the petrol station, very convienient. This year is no exception,I already have my shopping list for Christmas and they are at the top of my list to purchase.
by gban 21st October 2009 MTA Voucher is brilliant when it come as a christmas gift for families and friends since almost all my families and friends have car this day. This save my the headache of finding them a gift and how much to give them. Mum always give me something useful MTA Voucher is useful. We can use them in petrol station or in car repair. Thank you MTA.
by MileHighFlyer 22nd October 2009 Over the decades, I have had a great number of these vouchers. I don't very often actually buy them, though. Other people sometimes buy as presents, but probably the majority have been from loyalty programmes etc. It's a brilliant reward I reckon :) Especially as I do a fair bit of mileage every year.
by jill5 27th October 2009 Buying voucher is is a great way to say thank you. Also they are an appreciated gift. Yes I would buy vouchers online if I could be reasured that the vouchers are legal. Currently I buy my vouchers at petrol service stations.
by Bewitched 27th October 2009 I find them very handy. We are trvelling down to Wellington next month for my grandson's 2nd birthday nd have been purchasing the vouchers each week to cover the petrol costs. I alos find they make very good gift as they are able to be used on other items as well as petrol at the service station.
by ronny 27th October 2009 They are a great idea , have used them for many years, as gifts , to say thanks, even to save for that motoring holiday. Must admit lately not many stations have them, maybe have run out. I do get some from loyalty programs, which is great and I would buy online. so however they are made available I will keep buying them as they are just so useful.
by NZsin 27th October 2009 MTA Vouchers are so easy to use and a real boon for getting the kids to fill up with petrol at service stations. They can use them to pick up daily necessities like milk and bread as well. And if there's any change left over you get it back in cash too. Better than cash, especially when you need to get others to help with daily purchases.
by Kobex 1st November 2009 We have been buying MTA vouchers for years. They were in almost every petrol station at one point but now they are few and far between. We buy them for our kids when they are travelling and for presents when we know friends are travelling also and they like getting them. We tried to get them in Australia but they had never heard of them. They're a great saving when you have to pay for petrol up front plus they can be used for other items the petrol stations sell. We will keep giving them as long as they are there!
by Minimouse 1st November 2009 MTA voucher"s are a great gift idea my grand children appreciate them as ,gift"s for all occasions. I keep one in my wallet for emergencies. They are an all round great buy.
by Petal's Mum 3rd November 2009 The vouchers are great for discreetly helping out friends who are a bit low on cash, as they don't find it quite so embarrassing to accept! We live out in the backblocks and would be very happy to buy online as we do with many purchases, however we usually would want them on short notice, so shopping locally would be the preference.
by ansy pansy 6th November 2009 I have an ASB VISA card and whenever I use it, I earn 'true rewrd' points which I then cash in for MTA vouchers. We drive almost all year round with 'free' fuel.
by Marijay 6th November 2009 Much as I have always liked the idea of giving MTA vouchers, when I have tried to get them in the past the service stations did not have them! They sent me to other service stations which turned out to be a wild goose chase - I once went to 14 different places with no joy, so I gave up on the idea. It's good to learn that they can be bought online and I will certainly be buying them this way!
by mimi 17th November 2009 Last week I was buying rather a lot of vouchers or hoped to. My local service station were helpful though. They are usually all sold out by Tuesday so they kindly took my name and phone number and phoned me as soon as they had enough for me. I only have to walk to the end of my road so really appreciated their kindness..
