Marianne's Gang - October Meeting

Marianne’s Gang’s October meeting was another occasion of fun and laughter, sunshine and happiness that we were all together again, although we had two members from last month absent, we had three new recruits.

4919 was in chat the night before and was keen to come to the meeting and it was arranged that LadyP would pick her up and bring her in as it was found that they didn’t live that far away from each other.

Valsi who is in Dargaville, had all her travel arrangements sorted and had her lovely daughter-in-law driving her down, they arrived about lunch time and Valsi was left in our care while her daughter-in-law went off to visit her mum.

And then there was Beachbelle from Otaki up to visit with her daughter over in Takapuna, Marianne bussed from Devonport and met BB in front of a church and Georgie10 picked them up. Her daughter was worried about who her mum was going to be meeting up with from off the internet, and what we were like, but BB reassured her that we would be ok, here is the explanation she gave her that Lotrfan put in our thread.

Because I had worn a fascinator last month, it became quite a conversation piece and attracted attention, so we decided that we would make fascinators our gang patch, but were totally optional. So in the month leading up to our get together quite a few members went shopping around for bits and pieces and making up their own head gear to wear on the day, and charming they all looked too.

It really gives you a lift to get out there and wear a fascinator with a group, we had quite a few comments on what a lovely bunch we were, one young girl told me that she wants to be like us when she gets old, we are educating the young ones on how to be happy, we also tell everyone that we are from the GrownUps site, and how to get on it. Lotrfan had said the night before that she didn’t think she would be able to wear it on the bus to Ponsonby, but she did and when she got off the bus she had the biggest smile around!

While at the café, one of the patrons at the next table was John Tamihere, so we asked him if he would mind having his photo taken with us, and he replied that he would he was just having a cup of tea and doing business and would be happy to have his photo taken after that. So once he had finished his business he had his photo taken with all the GrownUp babes, and the two guys he had his meeting with took the photos for us with about 6 cameras, they were really good sorts and wanted to know about us and we told them the www for GrownUps.

Beachbelle has a granddaughter who works at John’s office, and she asked him about her and he said yes she was a nice girl, he might not think so after he gets to work this morning as the photo with us and the write up in the thread will be on his notice board, showing what he gets up to away from the office.

There are photos and comments in our thread, that will give a lot of chuckles and hopefully inspiration to other GrownUps members to get a get-together organized for their area.
